Normally, I have good food here. Not the best, but good. My trip on 12/13/2015 sadly will be my last. As soon as I walked in, I smelled rancid/old grease or cooking oil. That should have been my first warning. I ordered the chicken and broccoli with white rice, hot and sour soup and two egg rolls.
My entree was the chicken and broccoli. The chicken was disgusting. I know they don't use white meat chicken, but this chicken was the worst I've ever had. It was slimy, foamy feeling and had a horrible feel in my mouth. I couldn't finish it. Broccoli and white rice were fine, but that's pretty hard to screw up. I'm not sure what part of the chicken it was, but it didn't look like chicken and tasted nothing like chicken. Maybe was thigh meat?
My mom had the soup and two egg rolls (chicken). The hot and sour soup was very gelatinous. It was very thick and rubbery. I tasted it and agreed that it had little to no flavor. And neither of us could get past the consistency of the soup - it was really gross. The wonton strips that go on top of the soup smelled horrible (rancid grease). I sampled one and it left a horrible taste in my mouth. They were unedible. The chicken egg rolls were fine.
Maybe they just had an off day and I really should have called and complained. They either needed to change the oil/grease or something. Maybe the soup and oil was from the day before? It was the most disgusting Chinese I've ever had for takeout in the QC. I was so grossed out by it that I can't go back. I've ordered from there probably 6-8 times before and never had a problem. Not sure...
Read morePanda Garden, located on Bettendorf Middle Road, is a Chinese food treasure worth a try. The restaurant is conveniently located, and there are ample parking spaces at the door, so you can dine without worries. Walking into the store, the simple and modern decoration with soft lighting creates a warm dining atmosphere, which is suitable for family gatherings or small gatherings with friends. In terms of dishes, Panda Garden incorporates the essence of authentic Chinese cooking on the basis of classic American Chinese food. It is recommended to try their tangerine peel chicken - the skin is crispy, the sauce is balanced with sweet and sour sauce, and the meat is tender and juicy; the dry-fried green beans are cooked to perfection, the beans are crispy and slightly spicy, and they are very delicious with minced pork. Diners who like noodles may wish to order a seafood fried udon, which is solid in size and has full marks for the freshness of shrimps and vegetables. The service attitude is friendly and efficient. The waiter will patiently answer questions about the dishes, and the speed of serving is also satisfactory. In terms of price, the per capita positioning of 10−15 is quite cost-effective, especially suitable for weekday lunch or weekend relaxation. If you live nearby, you might as well include this place in your daily Chinese meal list and experience the delicious fireworks in the ordinary! Read moreIncredibly mid. It's like if you got Chinese food at a grocery store or a mall and it was surprisingly edible, but of course because it's from a grocery store it's not what anyone would define as "good." Except this isn't a grocery store. So for restaurant Chinese food, it's pretty bad. Nothing is really very flavored, and I have to laugh at the menu description of the hunan beef as spicy, because it definitely isn't. I know this is the midwest, but come on. Everything was remarkably bland and flavorless, but at least it was edible and the rice was thoroughly cooked, which is more than I can say for most local Chinese restaurants. Truly the definition of mediocrity, exactly what the third star was made for. In short, edible, but not good. To their credit though, I've never ordered pick up from a Chinese food restaurant that was so thorough with the packaging--no spillage! So that's...
