Updare 9/2/21: Now this is a meal! Thank you, CB Fairmont, WV, for getting it right!!
Update 8/21/21: I received a call yesterday from the manager at the Fairmont Cracker Barrel I referenced in my review on 8/15/21. The manager listened as I shared my experience from 8/15 with her. We spoke for 10-15 minutes and I truly felt heard, for that I thank her and Cracker Barrel management as a whole. The last year and a half has tried all of us, but we must stick together and do our best. I will bump Cracker Barrel up to 3 stars and if my next few visits are good, I will take them back to 4 stars.
Update 8/15/21: Evidently today wasn’t the day to order Chicken and dumplings for curbside pickup or to ask for utensils and napkins…. As you can see in the picture there wasn’t one whole dumpling in the dish instead there were 4 very small pieces of dumplings and only 4 very small pieces of chicken in the gravy. We weren’t given the 2 sets of utensils and 2 extra napkins that I had added to the order either. We were fortunate Grey asked for me to bring my small Igloo cooler with 2 cold bottles of water, inside were mismatched utensils and 2 napkins, yeah for Grey, not good for Cracker Barrel. I have taken my rating down to 2 stars. I usually only eat half of the dinner at my first sitting and save the rest for the next day, not today, I’m still hungry. I added a pic of what I received and a copy of the receipt. The receipt doesn’t show what the condiments were, but it was 2 utensils, 2 extra napkins, 2 butter and 4 blackberry jellies.
Cracker Barrel is the place for comfort food! Whether your craving chicken and dumplings, country fried steak, ham, pork chops or fried chicken they have you covered! Don't forget to take a walk through the old country store while you are there, they carry a lot of older candies that are hard to come by as well as nicnacks, some clothes, small amount of jewelry, games and a bit of...
Read moreI’ve been to several Cracker Barrel’s and have always enjoyed that I could count on having the same positive experience no matter where I am in the US. This was the first time I’ve been very underwhelmed. The restaurant wasn’t as noticeably clean as other locations. I also noticed that other staff members did not speak to us arriving. Usually everyone is so welcoming and so this was noticeable. My husbands water was noticeably different from the rest of our groups. It tasted like what you would expect toilet water to taste like. When he asked for a new glass it thankfully tasted normal. I ordered a fried chicken salad with dill ranch (as I was excited to have this from CB for weeks after fasting from meat and fried food and was looking forward to that dill dressing) unfortunately they were out of fried tenders and the dressing. I understand this happens, I was just very disappointed. My salad was full of the hard lettuce that’s close to the core, The tomato’s looked like they were around a little too long, my husband’s ff tasted like fish, my kid’s chicken looked like it was smashed on the grill a bunch of times and she mentioned several times it tasted off My other kid was happy 100% with his meal. Our waitress was great, she was kind, attentive and represents CB in a positive light. We didn’t share all the complaints with her besides the water and how I was disappointed in the two things I was really looking forward to but I know and understand that these things were out of her hands and her tip reflected our appreciation for her. This could have been an off day , I have had several positive experiences at other locations and have had the bar set high. At this time I have no interest in going...
Read moreWent for the first time in a while and they have definitely cut back on their portion size. I would always have leftovers eating here by not any more. Food was still good but I was shocked when I got 1 smaller plate of food. As did everyone else. I remember always getting a plate with one side heaped up and then bowls of other sides.
Instead of serving my biscuits with my meal they brought biscuits to the table and presented it as such. When I asked about it they said the biscuits were brought out were the biscuits for my meal... Which wasn't a huge deal but something to know. I've always received them with my meal in the past. Everyone at the table quickly finished their meals surprised nothing was left.
I wish it was more socially acceptable for staff to tell parents to watch their kids... While there a family with 2 young boys came in, they set there piles of stuff down and went to "wash their hands" parents came back no kids. Waiter came 3 times probably 15 minutes in total to take an order and no joke Mom took the menu to the bathroom so the kids could order because they were "washing their hands". Mom and Dad played on their phones the whole time Our table had ate and was leaving and the kids were still in the bathroom playing in the water about 30 minutes in total later. I think the guy who went in must of scolded them because they ran out of the bathroom and into the store running in circles screaming at each other "look at this." They bumped into several staff and at least one guest. Staff were obviously annoyed after a few minutes and then I didn't see the kids again I guess...
