Hmmmmmmm....where do I even begin?
Waited what seemed like forever for a waiter/waitress to arrive at the table. It wasn't at all busy the entire time we were there. We counted 4 tables with customers along with 5-6 people at the bar. We were contemplating on just leaving before our waitress (Hanna Q) FINALLY arrived. She took our drink order and just walked away before we could tell her we wanted to order a couple of appetizers. My sister grabbed her attention when she came back into the dining area as she was going to another table to let her know we wanted to order some apps. Well after she left that table (that was next to us) she just walked away and we didn't see her again for another 3-5 mins+/-.
When she came back she asked if we were ready to order....I told her yes but when we got her attention earlier we were doing that to inform her we wanted to order some apps. We proceeded to give her our appetizer order along with or lunch order. We told her we wanted to give her our app order when she took our drink order that way the appetizers would get to the table before our burgers.
The appetizers arrived MAYBE 3-5 mins before our burgers. I had only eaten 2 of the wings when our meals arrived. I will say the wings and burgers are nicely sized. One thing I couldn't understand is why such a large burger with fries would be served in a basket. A plate would've been much better because once you pick up the burger you cannot set it back into the basket unless you want it to fall apart. I ordered my burger medium well and my sister ordered her's well done. Mine had a little bit of pink but was eatable; my sisters however looked to me medium rare to medium. It was more pink than brown....needless to say she couldn't eat it. Never seen Hanna Q after we placed our order.
When she did finally come back to the table (first time we had seen her after her taking our order) to ask how was everything we were done eating. My sister informed her that her burger was not well done and therefore she couldnt eat it. Hanna proceeded to say "well I put it in as well done....I'm not responsible for how the kitchen cooks it." and then she took my sister's basket and walked away. Not once saying I'm sorry or asking if she needed to speak to a manager.
Needless to say my sister was pretty irate at how Hanna Q handled the situation. My sister then proceeded to say....well there goes her tip. I asked her why do you say that. She said "well it took her forever to even come to the table, then she ran off after taking the drink order, then after I asked her to come back to our table after dealing with the table next to us and she proceeded to walk away to only come back 5 mins later, she never came back to our table until we were done eating....and now she acts like it's not her problem or even concerned that my burger was raw....yeah I'm not leaving her a tip." My sister insisted on paying for lunch, so she gave Hanna Q $100 bill. SMy sister said "I'm on purposely paying with a $100 bill so she has to bring me change back; that way she'll see I didn't leave her a tip when we leave." Well when Hanna Q brought back the change she only gave back $38 thereby she shorted my sister 49 cents.
All in all.....the food was pretty good.....aside from it being undercooked. If you happen to sit for an extended time....it MIGHT be a sign that you just need to get up and leave.....we didn't listen to that sign....unfortunately.
Don't know if I'll give Swezey's another...
Read moreMy family and I have been attempting to be quite diligent with Tennessee's stay at home order. The kids (teens) have only left the house for a long Sunday drive in over 4 weeks. They hubby has made one run for a Kroger pickup and that has left me for most of the grocery runs (pick ups as well) and for our weekly one night of take out. While we most frequently eat in Nashville as that is where we spend most of our time, now that we are sheltering in place, we are focused on restaurants that are closer to our home. This is one we've seen and wanted to try, but simply have not made it there.
Let me say that having done a pick-up order, I can say once the shelter in place order is over, we'll be visiting there for a sit-down dinner!
After making my weekly pick-up run, I stopped to call in my family's order to Swezey's. I was a little nervous as sometimes french fries do not travel well. These, however, did. The person who took my order was courteous and efficient. I was approximately 5 minutes from the restaurant when I placed my order and once there, waited at most 10 minutes for the very fresh food to be delivered to me in my car.
We deemed it burger night and my family of four each ordered a burger and fries. My only regret with my order was not ordering a draft beer to drink when I arrived home. When I arrived home it was a like locusts descending upon me and my family eagerly set the table while I unpacked four of the largest burgers we have EVER seen in our lives.
We all agreed that these are among the area's top burgers!!! Delicious, even 20 minutes after leaving the restaurant. The toppings were generous, the fries were generous, the burger huge.
Cannot wait to go in person. Thanks to Swezey's for allowing us to have a great meal during these unusual times.
Folks...if you are getting take out, go above and beyond on the tips. These folks are going above and beyond for you!
(We took photos and they have somehow disappered. Hopefully will be able to...
Read moreThis was my second trip here. I was not overly impressed the first time so I always like to give a second chance. The decor is nice but there is far too much going on in such a small space. Food is tasty and prepared in a timely manner but overpriced. I witnessed a man (I assume the manager...definitely NOT the owner) scratching his head and his body inside of his shirt grab plates with his bare hands touching the inside of the plate (that just scratched everywhere) and take them to a table. The only reason we ate our food was it came in baskets on paper and I definitely watched for hygienic actions. The window where orders are placed after coming off the grill is so close to the cash out station that servers hair was flying over food. The pitchers of water and tea for refills was sitting at the end of the cash out station, uncovered, for people to walk past allowing hair or anything else to fall into them. We had a higher table and noticed a party with a wheelchair was having difficulty with a shorter table....we were going to offer to switch tables but before we could, the man who had scratched his head came over, tapped on our table and TOLD us to move. Very unprofessional!! As we were eating this same guy reached directly over my plate to fill napkins when he could have stepped to the side and not reached over anyone's plate. The server reached over my plate to refill my water glass. The restroom was trashed. Lastly, a lady who I believe was the owner's wife, came to take some plates from our table and make small talk...she was very nice but for some reason felt the need to stroke my husband's hand and arm while talking to him....he was incredibly uncomfortable with the invasion of personal space. I do not plan to return nor do I...
