Good Food. Good People. Warm Environment
The food is amazing. Chef Kate, is a vegan virtuoso. She makes all the comfort food that I swear I’m going to make a vegan version of for myself but end up eating grilled veggies and tofu (or edamame) instead. She also serves up new delights that I have never thought of but quickly become a “must have more.”
There isn’t a hint of austerity to her food. Everything is rich and delicious. Vegan, vegetarian or omnivore, the food is satisfying. It is made with love and a dash of sass. It is the food I wish my mama made.
No matter what is going on, both Kate and Joe (the man behind the counter) are always warm and friendly, way beyond nice and courteous. I enjoy just getting to say hello every week.
Side note: There is another gentlemen, whom I’m guessing is Kate’s father. I don’t know if he is actually helping when he slides in on occasion. However, he is good for a laugh and/or antecdote.
The decor is a beautiful swirl of art deco, shabby chic and rustic with a slight touch of goth. It makes for an extra warm spot in an already warm place, The Poland Library.
Delicious (sometimes decadent) vegan food, coffees, teas and other beverages with aisles of knowledge, history, worlds, fantasy, imagination and inspiration around the corner. Utopia...
Read moreMy friends and I came to get a good meal from the new cafe in our Library. My friend asked for this mac and cheese and the worker said it was frozen? I don’t understand how they can’t just heat it up or make it fresh. My other friend got a chocolate chip cookie. She politely asked if they could heat it up. The worker said he was not sure and that the worker in the kitchen was busy. The worker in the kitchen then came out about 30 seconds later. My friend kindly asked again to this different worker if they could heat up the cookie. The kitchen worker was very passive aggressive and gave an attitude, then asked if anything was wrong. My friend replied with “no just a bit dry”. I got the BLT mac and cheese. It was ok. Could have been better. Would...
Read moreCame in for a quick meal. Worker at the register was really quiet and slow. Asked if he could heat up my cookie because it was dry. He said the worker was really busy so he wasn’t sure. She must not have been that busy cuz a couple minutes later she had a full conversation with a random customer. Anyway, she came out and said “What’s wrong with it?” I told her nothing it was just dry and it would taste better heated up. She talked in a really condescending voice as well. She told me she couldn’t heat it up. Also, they had Mac and cheese on the menu. Upon asking for it, the worker said they can’t sell it because it’s cold. I guess they don’t have microwaves here to heat anything up. Overall, the food was mediocre...
