I can't seen to understand or agree with what some here in Youngstown see as GOOD Mexican food. Being our first time here, we can't say it was bad. Just not anything to write home about. As with any Mexican establishment, you get your chips and salsa right off the bat and are usually served by someone running around at top speed. A good thing and so rare to see at a typical American restaurant. That being said, it seems this day, although everyone looked busy as all get out, they were not in tune with each other. Partner had the Polo Rico, I had one of the MANY beef & chicken burritos combos, only deep fried. I couldn't wait! Some 25 mins later, the food came and although typically visually attractive, it left much to be desired in the way of portions and taste. Sadly, mine was the most flavorless dish and was wrong (2 chix burritos). My dining companions dish LOOKED as if they melted a slice of Kraft american on top, lol. Finally catching our server, who was very busy, she immediately ordered up a replacement beef burrito for my dish but did not ask about refills on our drinks or inquiring about the empty bottle of hot sauce placed at edge of the table as a reminder we had none. She did make it a point to insist I eat the mistakenly made extra chicken burrito. That was nice. Nonetheless, it still couldn't make up for the lack of flavors from the kitchen or attentiveness from our server. I dunno. I am picky. I have a high expectation for a place where I lay down my hard cash for a "night out". And El Vallarta, you just did not meet that expectation. And now we're ready to go and the empty bottle of hot sauce is STILL there...and I'm sad. LOL Wonder if it'll go back in the holder once...
Read moreI absolutely love a good Mexican restaurant that serves a great Mexican food. El Vallarta in Poland, Ohio does just that. The host greeted me warmly and asked my seating preference & I’d if was dining alone. I noticed that my seating options were tables, booths or at the bar, I asked for a table. He seated me at a table in the back and handed me a menu. My server was out quickly with chips & salsa, he then took my drink order. He was very friendly & polite. I asked if I could get an order of queso for my chips, he said he’d be right back with my drink & queso. I perused the menu for my dinner selection, the flaming cheese fajitas seemed to fit the bill. It did not disappoint! My server brought it out in a timely manner, applied a few liquids & juices, then lit it on fire!!! Lol talk about served flaming hot! After the flames went out he served it to me, there is a nice size serving cup of cheese that you put on top of the fajitas, it melted perfectly. My flaming cheesy fajitas were absolutely delicious! I truly enjoyed this entree in it entirety. Extremely tasty and perfectly cooked. After finishing my dinner I made my way to the bar. It is lit with colorful L.E.D. lights that give it an otherworldly look and feel. The bar itself is very well stocked with all the popular liquors & beers. I can’t say enough good things about this place. All I can recommend that you must dine here at least once. I know you will love the food and have a great...
Read moreTo start off short and sweet, after coming here for the first time 2 years ago, I've been coming back periodically ever since. One of my friends and I decided to try 🇲🇽El Vallarta🌮 about 2 years ago. We had a great meal and nice time, and (especially keeping in mind that I eat and enjoy Mexican food fairly often), it quickly became our 'signature restaurant'. The restaurant (in the old Lone Star Steakhouse building) is just subtly/lightly themed with a few themed touches, the staff is always friendly and attentive (as far as I can remember), and most importantly, the food has always been good. I admittedly haven't tried very many different entrees, but then again who needs to once you've had the delicious chorizo sausage topping 🍛chicken dinner with rice, beans, and fajitas (mmm ... whoops, I just drooled a little). Also I admit that I have had slightly more spicy/flavorful salsa🍅, but then again that's just my personal preference/opinion of course and theirs is pretty good regardless. Beyond this, there are always coupons conveniently available in the promo ads in my mail, which have come in handy almost every time I've dined there ($5 off $25 total purchase (alcohol🍺/drinks🍸🍹 not included🚫), and $6💵 off a total $30 purchase.) All in all, I feel like the Dos Equis commercial line sums it up: "I don't always dine out, but when I do, I prefer El Vallarta. Stay hungry🌯 my friends🤝." *actual...
