Read moreFirst if customer service was good. No complaints there! Food was made quick and everything was correct. The shake was good too.
Now the food: Let me start with I am first gen Mexican and was so excited to hear that we had a place that made tacos, quesadillas and birria tacos. I was prepared for authentic Mexican food.
When I came home we were quite disappointed. The Mexican cuisine isn’t what I would call authentic. So just a warning for those who come here for that. The birria tacos are suppose to be fried in the consume with cheese for the soft juicy flavoring. These were dry and had a really weird bbq like seasoning on the tortilla that was overpowering. Also they have some purple lettuce in them. I’ve never seen that. So birria tacos are a no for us.
Same for the quesadilla. The tamales are $3.50 yikes! I get mine from someone for $12 a dozen. And they are massive and authentic
Now the fish fry was good. The fries had the same bbq/Cajun like seasoning that the tacos had.
I would say for the prices and the food it was ok. I definitely wouldn’t consider this authentic Mexican cuisine. Perhaps the burgers and hot dogs are more on par. My family has been wanting to try the Mexican cuisine but I would not recommend it. Do try the other...
Read moreI decided to stop at The Purple Pit Stop in Polk City on my way back from Cleremont as it was lunchtime, and I was starving! I was greeted by the friendly staff at the walk up window. I knew through a little research before I stopped that Friday's special was the fish fry, but it would have been nice to be told that when I walked up. No biggie. I affirmed the fish fry was the special, and that's what I ordered. The plates are made to order, so be prepared to wait a few minutes to get your order. The food comes out in an acceptable time and freshly cooked! The fish was crispy (maybe a tad too crispy), and fish was fresh, flakey, and tasty. Fries were perfect, and there were plenty of them. The plate also came with tarter sauce and a tiny bit of coleslaw. The tarter sauce was good, the coleslaw was not. Overall, I enjoyed the fish fry plate and walked away satisfied. They also have the Rolling Gormet food truck. I have had the burgers and tacos from the food truck. I really enjoy the burgers, but tacos are...well...tacos. If you're ever in Polk City I would recommend a stop at the Purple Pit...
