Phillips Ranch Health Bar — Restaurant in Pomona

I love this place. It's a little gem of Pomona tucked in the plaza where Starbucks and Denny's are. My boyfriend and I frequent this place quite often on Sundays before we run our weekly errands.

FOOD: They have a great selection of salads, smoothie, and spinach wraps. I haven't tried their smoothies, but their BBQ chicken spinach wrap ($7.95) is delicious here. You can customize it to your liking (I usually ask for no cheese and light sauce). The spinach wraps are never dry, the chicken is tender, the mixed greens is always fresh and crispy and the dressing is the perfect amount to complement the entire wrap. To top it off, the portion was huge for the price. :) I also had their Spinach Berry Salad which was also very delicious. On a bed of green spinach, the salad was decorated with colorful berries of all sorts, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and cranberries. It was refreshing and so good for the body. :D

ATMOSPHERE: Since it's located right next to Starbucks, we usually sit at their outside seating since we also usually get a green tea to pair with our salads/spinach wrap. It's a great place to eat. But they also have an inside eating area that has couches, chairs and tables that's placed near the window for people watching. It's spacious and always a/c'ed from what I know. But most of all: It's very clean and tidy indoors. The color palette is a soothing light green color paired with white, perfect for such a place.

SERVICE: Friendly workers that are always willing to explain the different wraps that they have and have no problem customizing for their customers. The only slight gripe would be that them making the food takes a bit, even when it's slow. Also their use of Styrofoam boxes, it doesn't seem like they recycle so it always kills me a little when I toss the box after I finish. It'd be nice to use something that biodegrades easier and/or recyclable? Like maybe simple paper wrapping or something.

But they have loads of healthy options to choose from, and definitely a place for salad lovers! Don't forget to ask for...

We came here twice, and was disappointed both time. The 3 wraps (Mediterranean, turkey and avocado, BBQ chicken) we tried are all flavorless and very dry, like they forgot to add any sauce to it. The turkey and avocado wrap didn't have any avocado in it? So they forgot the sauce and also the avocado? It was just a dry wrap with spinach and turkey, no seasoning, no sauce, nothing. Mediterranean wrap was full of spinach, a few olives, and a tiny amount of hummus. Again, dry and flavorless. BBQ chicken was probably the best one out of the three. Yet it just tastes ok. We also had the acai bowl, which was good but small portion for the price. I had a juice also. By the time I got the juice in my hand, it already separated into different layers and not mixed well.

The counter staff members are friendly, but seems like they have no clue what they are doing. The cashier girls kept on making mistakes, and repeating our order back wrong. She had to ask other people to come help her. A guy asked if we need a plastic bag, and just threw everything in there like tossing potatoes in there. Not laying the food boxes flat. Also just toss the acai bowl in there?!

We came here because of the high reviews on Yelp. But we visited on a Saturday and a Sunday for lunch, and experience the same disappointment both days....

I’ve been a long time customer of this store and always liked their service, but I have never been given such a hard time to redeem the “points system “ from the purchases I’ve made through out the months. They used to use a stamp card, one day I came to buy a smoothie and they took my punch card(that was full) and I was told they will transfer the points to my “account “ well what account they didn’t take my name or number so now that I’ve tried several times to redeem is such a drama.that as a customer been trying to redeem I just keep getting the run around and a bunch of lame excuses that the manager isn’t here, that I need a phone number to redeem etc. As a business if you are going to offer a point system, please don’t give your customers a hard time when they want to redeem or train your employees to follow the...
