I recently visited the Pollo Campero location in Pompano Beach, and overall, it was a satisfying experience. Here's my take on the taste and service:
The fried chicken here is consistently crispy on the outside, with tender, juicy meat on the inside. I tried their classic fried chicken, and the seasoning is spot-on—it's flavorful without being overwhelming. The spices are a perfect balance, offering a subtle kick that pairs nicely with their dipping sauces. I also sampled their grilled chicken, which was smoky and delicious, with a nice char and a little zest from the marinade. Definitely a winner if you’re not in the mood for fried.
Their sides were also tasty, with the rice and beans being my favorite. It has a nice, hearty flavor that complements the chicken well, and the mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy. The fried yucca is a must-try as well—crispy and golden, a perfect side dish to add to the mix.
The service at the Pompano location was friendly and efficient. The staff seemed genuinely welcoming and took care to ensure my order was correct. The line moved quickly, even during peak hours, which is always a plus. My food came out hot and fresh.
If you're in the area and craving flavorful chicken with a Latin twist, Pollo Campero in Pompano Beach is a solid choice. The taste is on point, and the service is quick and friendly. Definitely recommend trying it if you haven't already, especially for their fried...
Read morePRO: ordered the chicken nuggets and fell in love with how juicy and flavorful. Pretty good sized nuggets and seasoned perfectly. The chicken empanada was also quite tasty. Slaw was on point. My potato fries had a couple yucca fries hidden inside so it was nice to get a sample lol. Overall taste of meal was good!
CON: the potato fries were weak… I blame the packaging for most of my disappointment. My main letdown was on accuracy of the order. I ordered pick up… went in, had no wait, grabbed my sealed bag and I was out the door. Upon double checking my order while sitting in my car, realized they forgot my family size slaw. Went back inside the store and saw it sitting on the counter waiting for me. Mistakes happen, I get it. But then when I got home to eat my meal, I realized the empanada didn’t come with the campero sauce like it advertised. Then I realized they didn’t include the campero sauce I ordered to go with my nuggets. I’m a huge condiment person so it was such a letdown not being able to try the signature sauce. That’s 3 total items that were initially missing, yet why was my order sealed up in the bag- I get that the restaurant is new, but still, always do a double check! Well all know this would never happen at chick-fil-a. Lol
I was able to fill out a survey and earned 2 free pieces of chicken… guess I’ll give the service a second chance and hopefully have the opportunity to try the...
Read moreStopped in at Pollo Campero in Pompano Beach at Copans Road and Federal Highway for a quick meal with Latin flair, and it did not disappoint. The 3-piece fried chicken was delicious — crispy, lightly breaded, and full of flavor. The roll and fries were just okay, nothing memorable, but the chicken more than made up for it. Eat-in and ask for real silverware.
We also tried the Campero Bowl, which was very tasty with a nice mix of textures and their signature rice — definitely something we’d order again. Meals don’t come with drinks, but the drink station was a pleasant surprise with four specialty beverages and free refills.
The total came to $30 for two people, which felt like a good value considering the portion sizes — we had enough leftovers for another meal. The only downside was the 18-minute wait to get our food, which felt a little long for a fast-casual spot, but the quality made it worth...
