Shame on Ulta Beauty
Yesterday I was at Ulta in Pompano Beach looking for a specific Givenchy green bronze eye liner for me and eventually something else for my female siblings. I have sensitivities with eye liners, which was the reason I was looking for Givenchy, or even willing to try any french brand they would recommend. ( at that time I was using original kajal which is a particular blend of herbs and ground natural mineral stone from Morrocos) Coming back to my story, I was approached by two sales associates and one of them responded that they do not carry this brand and left immediately.
The other lady offered me her assistance. I explained her that I was looking for any French brand since they do not carry the one I was looking for. I needed a green bronze that I could....before finishing my sentence she showed me an american brand I believe, and no green color in their palette. Then I said in a polite manner that I was looking for a green that... without listening being interrupted she add she could see the black colour I was using on my eyes. I agreed with her, yes, that I was using a Kajal from... because... no listening... interrupted again, She said Oh, I KNOW WHAT A KAJAL IS! So, from that moment I felt something was off, she seemed to be offended. I discontinued the information I wanted to provide her..and asked again for a French brand if possible please.. This time rolling her eyes she said:, "but you want a French brand..." It seemed to me that my preference for a French brand wasn't welcomed. Then I red one area on my right with the name of Estee Lauder, and nearby the name of Clinique brands and express to her my interest. I am from Belgium, my first language happened to be french, and yes, despite being in the US for thirty years, I still have that accent, and when it comes to read French names, it sounds French. At this very moment I could feel my accent made her feel uncomfortable, like I was snobing in a way, and sincerely this was the last of my intentions.
she answered out loud in a theatrical body language manner that THOSE BRANDS ARE NOT FRENCH!
Then she said in a loud voice that she was confused with what I was saying and looking for. Well, I tried to explain.... when I red the Lancome name from another area.. Then she complained again she was really confused with me.
At this point I was aware that she made sure I experienced a sense of being ridiculed and humiliated. But all I was feeling was being really upset.
I just responded kindly that I would like to look myself what would suits me better. I ended up buying two clinique crayons for someone else, and no one else seemed to care to help further after that scenario.
I wanted to express my experience with who is willing to read me until the end and the responsable person who hired this person as a sales associate/Beauty adviser position.
Kindness, amability, patience is not part of someones core when an Ego is blinding everything.
My expectations to have a good connection with a professional in the beauty industry couldn't be worst. After that terrible experience, I will definitely not come...
Read moreI’m a frequent customer at this store as I find that they always have what I need and the parking lot situation is way easier than the one in Ft Lauderdale. However, it seems that they changed personnel at the last 2 times I’ve been very disappointed with the service. Last week I walked in and inmediately noticed that there was no greeting and there were loud voices coming from the cash register area. My first impression was that a customer was giving them a hard time, but no…there were 3 employees having a loud conversation. I normally don’t mind it if’s for a couple of minutes, but I must’ve spent 15-20mn in the budget cosmetics’ area and it was very distracting the whole time. Yesterday I went back and same thing happened. The whole time! Also, as I was looking for a foundation in the Milani area, there was an employee assisting another client. I waited until the client was making a decision and asked 2 questions to the employee. The first one was about a price (to which she literally replied “I don’t know”) and the second one was about the product (and again, she replied “I don’t know, I’ve never used Milani” and turned her back on me to keep helping the other client). On top of that, when I went to the cash register, I have my phone in my hand and I tell the cashier that I’m looking for a coupon (I think it was $3 off $15) and even before I showed it to her, she said “I don’t think the coupon’s gonna work because you’re buying cosmetics” (?!?!?!?!?)…the coupon did work for (again, Milani…not a prestige brand). I give stores a lot of grace! I won’t go into it, but I do have knowledge in retail, so I avoid leaving reviews, specially over petty things. However, if management wants to sell and upsell, this isn’t the way to go. Service works wonders on a...
Read moreI usually shop at the Deerfield Beach Ulta, but they did not have an item in stock that I wanted so I went to the Pompano Beach Ulta, store # 1358. I had a very bad experience with the store manager and the clerk that checked me out. Both were very passive aggressive and overall had a bad attitude. I was returning a lipstick and did not have the packaging, the manager first told me the lipstick was part of a set and I could not return it by itself. I told her this was not part of a set and that I had purchased it individually. She then said she didn't have that item in the store and could not find the SKU and could not return it. At this point she had NOT looked to see if the item was available. I offered to go look for it, and she decided to go look for the item after I volunteered. She came back a few minutes later and said she had found the item and proceeded to issue the refund. I NEVER had a problem returning anything to Ulta until I came to this store. The manager was harsh in her demeanor, did not smile or seem friendly towards me but appeared to be upset. The manager's name is Beth. Before I checked out I witnessed her mistreating other customers who were trying to purchase some items with a coupon, she called them thieves and snatched the items they had picked up from them. She told them they were not going to purchase anything and told them to leave the store. The manager-Beth- is very unprofessional and appeared to be on edge or like she was having a bad day and was taking it out on the customers. Needless to say I will NOT EVER come back to this store, where the employees are mean...
