Ruby's by the Sea — Restaurant in Pompano Beach

I don't think I'd ever go there again because of the female waitress with the long hair. She was very rude and was training a gentleman the night that I was there. She constantly barked at him and even said to him I really think you are deaf. I had to tell you that two times. This was extremely rude to treat somebody new who was training as well as an insult for people who have relatives or are themselves deaf.

I had the waitress and staff behind the counter past me by at least six times and look at me before asking can I help you?

At one point the waitress barked at the trainee, just go outside and get the oil from that table. He went outside and came back without the oil and vinegar. She proceeded to say what are you doing? I told you to go get the oil and vinegar. The kind young gentleman said I asked them and they said they weren't done with it. She proceeded to say I don't care. They finished their salad. Go get it. You need to fire this waitress.

As far as the food, the calamari was soggy & looked and tasted like it was frozen. The two slices of pizza were squished into one box and put on top of each other, so one slice was missing half of the cheese.

Ate here twice to provide a thorough review. Garlic knots were warm and very garlicky. Fine for me but could be toned down a touch for most pallets. The salads were fresh and amazing but the sauce was a bit watery which wasn’t aesthetically pleasing. Spaghetti noodles were firm. Marinara sauce was tasty and fresh. Eggplant parmesan was not memorable. I’m from MI where oddly we have a large concentrated population of Italians so I’m spoiled. Again it wasn’t bad and for a beach town should exceed expectations. The 4 cheese pizza was splendid! Very cheesy so you get want you asked for. Brilliantly cooked to perfection. Crunchy but not burnt. Thin and not heavy sauce. The service was stellar as well. I ordered takeout and was really disappointed with the overall experience. I ordered a dozen garlic knots but only received 10, which was frustrating to realize once I got home. To make matters worse, the garlic knots were extremely oily and tasted stale, like they had been sitting out all day.

The calamari was overcooked and very greasy. I couldn’t even chew it, the texture was tough and rubbery, which completely ruined it. I’ve had calamari many times, and this just wasn’t up to par.

The cheese lover pizza was average at best. It was basically a regular cheese pizza with a few extra cheeses added, but nothing about it stood out in flavor or quality.
