Pinas.Bar.Rest — Restaurant in Ponce

Cozy spot in a hidden corner in Ponce with great prices and big quantities of food.

Pinas is one of those spots where it's so out of your way that you normally would not consider visiting.

But let me tell you that if you visit, it's worth it.

I had the fish filet with rice and beans and avocado 🥑, and it was superb. Normally, when places charge you for lunch they give you small quantities because the price is lower.

But not on Pinas. They give you a lot for $8 on lunch. Good quantities and low prices.

The atmosphere is really good too. It's nice, dark, and cool, contrary to outside where it's bright, hot, and the sun is kinda irritating 🌞

It's a little hard to get here, since the road is tight and far away (especially when you have a place like Café Lucero nearby) but I think it's worth it.

The food was good. But the time it took to get the food, oh my god. We spent about 90 minutes at the establishment. Ordered the dorado and some appetizers. The appetizers came out, finished them, and kept on waiting. Then, the chef emerges from the kitchen—maybe about half an hour after we placed the order—to inform us he had no dorado. Couldn’t they tell us that right after we placed tow order? So agreed on some other type of fish. It was good. But the service sucked big time and then some.

Oh, and we ordered tostones. About 45 minutes after placing the order, we saw the chef carry a branch of plantains into the establishment. And then, maybe 15 minutes later, the substitude fish and the tostones arrived.

A hidden gem, like someone else said here? Hidden, definitely. A gem?...

The food is amazing here and at a great price! Location wise it's a bit secluded from what I saw. We are just passing through ponce and picked the closest thing to us. The lady that took our order also said she would be cooking the food. Not sure if she is the owner or part owner but it was amazing so my compliments to her for the amazing service! Se lo recomiendo a todos pasando por ponce!

Edit: Some reviewers are mad about long wait times. The food here is fresh unlike the u.s. You can tell by the taste and quality of the food. Don't expect speedy service because this isn't a fast food joint. Expect delicious food from this establisment! 1000% recommend to come here and...
