Vegan Nova — Restaurant in Pontiac

We were very happy with the fantastic selection of delicious vegan food. With a vegan family member, finding a place that caters to her can sometimes be a challenge, but this restaurant was perfect for the whole family.

First and foremost, the menu offers a vast array of choices that made it hard to decide what to order. We settled on a few of the more popular dishes and weren’t disappointed at all. They all tasted great and even rivaled their non-vegan namesake.

Now, onto the topic of service. We did notice some comments about the speed of service before visiting, but it's important to remember that this isn't a fast-food joint. While it did take a little longer than normal for our food to arrive, we didn't find the wait to be unreasonable, especially considering that everything was freshly cooked to order.

What truly stood out, aside from the food, was the warm and friendly attitude of the staff. They were not only accommodating but also incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, helping us navigate through the various options and providing insightful recommendations. Their friendliness added a welcoming touch to our dining experience and made us feel right at home.

As they approach their one year anniversary, it’s clear they still have some more kinks to work out, as they were out of a few items and while super helpful and friendly, the service is still minimal with ordering only at the counter. But they’ve come a long way from the earlier reviews and are clearly on the right track.

I'm completely baffled by this place and don't know where to begin. I suppose the front door is as good as place as any. Upon entering, I immediately noticed that the dining area was filthy. The floors looked as if they hadn't been swept in weeks, and many of the tables were unclean, although we were the only party present at that time. My partner suggested leaving, but I was too excited about the menu, and we'd driven an hour, so we ordered. The person who took our order (it's counter service or order with a QR code at your table) was friendly and obliging. We ordered a club sandwich with fries, a "steak" sandwich with Mac and Cheese, a smoothie, and 2 fountain Cokes. Our food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was satisfactory. Both sandwiches and the smoothie were delightful. The fries were ok, but I suspect the fryer grease was due for a swap and the Mac was bland. The fountain pops were disgusting. Very little carbonation and room temperature, which suggests the unit isn't properly cooled. An employee swapped them for canned pop without hesitation, so all is well that ends well. The baffling part: it appears as careful thought was put into the menu and into the decor but it's not being maintained with pride. I'd love to see this place "clean...

I’m sitting here now and I am blown away. I got the Mac and cheese with bbq jackfruit and it is phenomenal! The tangy bbq sauce actually works SO well with the creamy cheese sauce. I’ve got my eyes on that cheesesteak as well…

YEP! The cheesesteak is the bomb. (Just to be clear, I saved the second half of the mac. The portions are pretty big, and I am only human) The steak seems like seitan, but it is thinner sliced (like an Arby’s roast beef sandwich) It is either fried or cooked somehow to a wonderful texture and piled high with peppers and really good vegan white cheese shreds on a very good brioche roll. One of the best vegan steak sandwiches I’ve ever had. Definitely.

The fries are very good, thicker cut steak fries. The oil they used is very clean. No seasoning on the fries besides maybe a little salt, but they don’t really need anything (other than ketchup)
