Koreana — Restaurant in Poquoson

I will say before posting this that I have been to this restaurant probably 5 times total and have never had ANY issues until last night.

Last night was AWFUL. We arrived at 6 and didn’t leave until 815. There was 7 of us in the party. The hibachi didn’t start for almost an hour and twenty minutes. (The hibachi chef though was the only good thing about the entire meal. He was fun).

I come Here specifically for the tuna cocktail appetizer. We were given two orders of the wrong appetizer and when I asked our waitress about it she said, “you must’ve had it at another restaurant”. I said, “no, it was definitely here multiple times”. She then said, “oh, different chef then”... WHAT? it is on your menu, but only a specific chef makes it?? Okay.

Me and one other friend also ordered sushi. She served my sushi roll to my friend who had never been there and then the waitress comes over and says, “oh no, that is actually her roll” and tries to take her plate and hand me HALF of a roll instead of making a whole new one when she gave it to the wrong person. Then we heard the sushi chef angrily speaking with the waitress about it with a raised voice all the way from our table.

While we are dealing with this, another couple sitting diagonal at a regular table was talking to her server about how horrible everything was also and that none of the rolls they ordered were the ones that they got. So, from what we heard and what the couple described- they mixed up some of our orders with theirs. Then the server from that table came over to ours to let us know that there was a mix up in checks and we’d get our in a minute and we could tell she’d been crying, probably from being scolded for whatever happened at her table. (Also, when we eventually got our checks they were all completely messed up). To top it off- we paid for two appetizers we didn’t want and hated. The service was awful, we had no drinks for almost the entire time and because we were in a party of 7 they already automatically included the gratuity which is WAY MORE than any of us would have given for the “no service” service that we got. We arrived with a party of 7 at this establishment at 4:45 PM we were sat at the hibachi. As I was standing in the restaurant waiting on are party to all get inside. There was a gentleman that came in and talked to the worker. Now at this point we just got sat, waiting to have someone take are drink orders and menus. Well the staff was more concerned with cleaning around the cook it yourself table and table top. After 15mins of cleaning up he came to take are drink orders. But Wait there’s more lol, after taking the drink orders he went to the table they cleaned to set plates, then brought our drinks and took food orders. We have been in the restaurant for about 30mins at this point. 25mins later they brought the soup and salad. The other party that they cleaned the table for got there beers with in 4mins of being in the restaurant. When they came out to start making are dinners of course they brought the other tables food too. After they start making our food, the experience was okay, but I feel like they should take care of every customer the same way. With that said, they definitely need to clean the establishment head to toe. The white menus were absolutely disgusting your feet stick to the floor and the walls were off-white due to all the stains. Don’t feel like any other people should’ve took presidents over the people that literally waited an hour for them to start making food one of my worst experience at a hibachi. My family and I have been here before and had a good experience however that was not the case this time. We decided to take my Dad out for Father's day and called to see if they were accepting reservations. We made a reservation for 4pm and were told to arrive by 3:45pm. When we arrived (on time) we went in and they told us there was an issue with another party that came in and we would not get a table until 4:30pm. We explained we had made a reservation and that was a 45 minute wait. We were told we could sit at a table and order food but for Hibachi we would have to wait 45 minutes. Now we understand things happen and it was a big day, so a few minute wait was fine, even 15-20 mins would have been fine. But the fact we called ahead and got a reservation for that day at a certain time did not sit well with us. If we had made the reservation a week in advance and something changed and they got behind I get it, but when we called they should have told us they were behind, given us a different arrival/reservation time or told the party that walked in that they would have to wait as another party was coming in that called ahead. (the people at that station were not eating and did not have a cook at their station so they had just arrived.) We called and found another Hibachi place within a 10 minute drive that took us with no issues and immediately sat us on arrival. We will not be going...
