My wife and I along with 3 of my grown daughters dined here on a recent Saturday afternoon. The quality of the food, excellent service and ambiance justified the 5 star. My only complaint is that the serving portion was so small considering the fishing boats were right there! Our local seafood restaurants here in middle Georgia gives larger servings and they have to take into account the transportation costs. Oh well!😀
Edit: August 2025 The previous review noted above was about 5-7 years ago. During a trip to see my nephew graduate from Parris Island we also visited this restaurant back in 2003. So this recent trip was my 3rd trip in 20-25 years. Let me begin that the food served and quantity during the first trip was superb and I vowed to come back! The second trip that the above review is based annotates the small portions that were being served. But I still have 5 stars. Now to my final review. My wife and I was married in Beaufort almost 55 years ago and made this trip for nostalgic reasons. This being our 3rd trip (from Middle Georgia) to the Fishcamp we were very much anticipating a good seafood meal. We were sadly disappointed. We ordered hush puppies as an appetizer ($7) two small side salads ($17) two teas ($7) and a platter ($18) with oysters, shrimp, and a filet of flounder. So with a 20% tip the total was well over $50. a. Whoever the chef was that came up with the recipe for the hush puppies was way, way off in left field. To begin with they were called jalapeños hush puppies. Didn’t taste anything resembling a jalapeño. And the basic ingredient for hush puppies is ground cornmeal and a small amount of flour. I’ve been cooking them for over 50 years. These were fried flour balls that were so tough they were almost inedible. 1 star at the best. b. The oysters and the shrimp on the plate were about the size of the tip of your thumb. I would think shrimp that size would be thrown back by the shrimpers! I have seined shrimp off the beach in Jekyll Island Georgia that were 3 times bigger and the oysters had to have been cut up to be such small sizes! Flounder was undercooked! 1 star!! c. In conclusion save your hard earn money and visit another seafood restaurant although I certainly can’t recommend any in Beaufort. Did hear that Hilton Head had some 5 star establishments but oh the...
Read moreFishcamp on 11th Street in Port Royal, South Carolina, is a standout seafood restaurant and bar that offers a delightful dining experience in a nautical-themed setting. Overlooking the shrimp fishing port, this family-friendly spot boasts a beautiful view, especially at sunset, making it a must-visit when in Beaufort.
The ambiance is casual, cozy, and trendy, perfect for lunch, dinner, or just a quick bite. We were particularly impressed by the outdoor seating area, complete with swings and docks where you can pull up by boat – a unique and exciting feature. The restaurant's accessibility is commendable, with wheelchair-accessible entrances, parking, restrooms, and seating.
Our visits have always been pleasant, thanks to the fantastic wait staff and hostesses who are polite, accommodating, and attentive. The drinks at the outside bar are strong and refreshing, and the view from the deck is spectacular, though the flies can be a bit annoying.
The menu at Fishcamp on 11th Street is extensive and delicious. We have tried almost everything, and the raw oysters and hushpuppies are family favorites. The risotto is also a standout dish. The food options range from comfort food to healthy choices, and they offer a variety of beverages, including cocktails, wine, beer, and even halal food. The desserts and great cocktails add to the overall dining experience.
This place is usually packed on weekends, and they do not take phone reservations unless it's for a large party. However, they do accept online reservations, which tend to fill up quickly. If you show up without a reservation, you might have to wait, but their beeper system ensures you don't miss your turn.
The screened-in porch for dining is a fantastic feature, providing a comfortable dining environment even on breezy days. The bar area has a laid-back atmosphere, perfect for relaxing with friends or family. Live music adds to the charm, making the evenings here enjoyable and vibrant.
Fishcamp on 11th Street is a quaint little place with incredible water views, family games outside, and a welcoming atmosphere. It's a hit every time we're in Beaufort, and despite occasional longer wait times during busy periods, it's a family favorite. Whether you're a tourist or a local, this place offers a wonderful dining experience right on the water. Highly...
Read moreI visit SC often & love hearing about new restaurants. This place, although a little difficult to find if you aren't a regular visitor to Sands Beach is worth finding! I was with my teenage grandson, so we had to skip the one-man show of live music in the bar area on this Tuesday night. He sounded pretty good from what I heard. You walk thru the 'bar' area (an outdoor area of tables with a large bar to service them) to get to the hostess stand. We asked for outdoor seating that wasn't in the bar area, so they sat us in a screened in porch with some powerful fans in the corners. The view was nice but obstructed by shrimp boats docked along a pier directly outside. The sunset is nice if you are sitting on the far end of the room. I figured they might do a good crab cake (I live in Dallas & have yet to taste one I like). The Daufuskie blue crab cake did not disappoint (ordered the appetizer version at $14)! So fresh and not mushy with filling at all. Totally enjoyed it and the slaw underneath. It was a little disappointing to not see more fresh seafood dishes with assortments (fish, shrimp, crab). I'm not a fan of fried seafood.Your choice of 'fresh seafood' on the menu consists of flounder or grouper. There are 2 'towers', but one is only shrimp $40 and the other is way too much food for 2 people and at $100, I'm not willing to chance it. We shared the king crab at $40 for 1-1/2 ibs. The presentation flunked majorly! They tossed a couple of legs in a tin pan with a few potatoes, 2 small ears of corn & maybe 5 little pieces of sausage. I almost sent it back. But my grandson cracked open the legs and they were filled with some fresh, juicy meat. Can I make a suggestion? - lose the tin pan for one. Serve it on a nice white platter with some garnish and more sides. Oh, is my Dallas-side showing? Our server Sarah was super friendly and knew her stuff! I'd love to have her wait on us again. She laughed & chatted but not too much, she hustled to get us what we needed. Would like to see a larger selection of white wines. The chocolate/peanut butter mousse dessert was delish! I'll be back to enjoy a drink in the...
