Wife and I went in yesterday around 7pm. 1 other party there. Cashier/server/host/bartend…to me…. Seemed to be… high or no, just high on some super depressant. Asked for 2 cheese and 1 “the d” pizza squares TO GO! Was told “3 minutes” and proceeded to wait. 7 minutes in, I see the server washing dishes or attempting to in the back, without gloves, comes and checks my pizza, without gloves. Takes the pizza out, places it behind this shelf or something like that and is there for a couple minutes. Comes out with 2 metal treys the pizzas are on and says I gave you an extra plate. The pizza had mounds of liquid sauce poured over it. Not at request. I said I wanted it to go, they giggled and said oh ok and slid it into a box they had waiting. Sloppy and ignorant. I’m literally allergic to certain amounts of tomato sauce. Glad it was liquid enough to slide it back into the box. Shame they took a great location and turned it into a damn place bumping night club music that’s...
Read moreI was so disappointed when my favorite local pizza joint closed it's doors after more than 20 years. Then I found out that Assembly Brewing would be taking over the space with their custom brews and Detroit style pizza. I have been waiting for Assembly to open their doors and it finally happened. I live nearby so decided to check it out. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. The music was great. The art work was cool. The place has lost some of the ambiance that it had when it was Bella's. The food was good, but expensive. There was a variety of pizza by the slice, however the slices are ridiculously small for the $7 that I paid. The pint was also $7 I believe. I def won't be frequenting this place as I did when it was Bella's. It was a staple for me before, but I can't afford $7/slice for a tiny square slice of pizza. I will have to go much further down Alberta Street to Palladin Pie where the slices...
Read moreThey are new and working out some kinks, but the food and beer are amazing. I’ve had Ranch many times and prefer this place (after 1 visit). And you know how deep pizza opinions go in this town? Well my friend who loves Ranch also had to say, “I think this is better.” -fighting words. The tomato sauce tastes so fresh, it really blew us away, and the dough is light not heavy. We had the jalapeño popper rolls and they were delicious, especially the sweet wash on the outside and the thicc bacon inside. We also got a large cesar which was tasty but not worth $13 imo ($10?). Excellent spot to people watch (especially on a weekend)! Comfy interior, great tunes playing, cool artwork, a back patio if you want privacy, a small “bar” to eat at as well. This place will find its stride, and for what it’s worth, I love seeing a nearly all poc team running a place....
