The last 2 times we came were horrible. Soup not good, pork feet and pork meet tasted old and have jucky flavored. We did not eat any of them. There were multiple worms 🐛 in veggies, we had to ask them to cook the vegetables so it can disinfectant and kill the worms . The last time was $21.50 for a bowl of bun bo hue. We’ll never come back here again Update : we told you there are worms 🐛 in vegetables and asked you to cook them so we hoping they all will fall and die in the pot soup. The lady did it and acted like it’s normal, then why did not you refund us then at that point we haven’t even try the soup Update after reading owner review, the bowl was actually $21.50 each . We had 3 bowls and 1 fried rice to go , total came out $80 . Make sure you ask for price and have receipt before you eat there because they don’t usually give you one. Update: I had posted the receipt 🧾 They told us $80 so I asked for the receipt. $21.50 for a small size bowl of soup Now that I’m thinking they just ripped us of . I’m going to bun bo Hue teo from now on. Much better price and food and atmosphere and people. Just 5 minutes from here, no shady place...
Read moreMy friend really likes this place and comes here often. In fact, he frequents this place so often he doesn't even need to order anymore! He sits down and they bring him his order!! Talk about a creature of habit and familiarity! If he brings company then the staff will stop by the table and ask what everybody wants to eat... Not a very large venue, decent amount of seating. Open kitchen...sorta. You can definitely take a peek and see what the staff is doing. Parking can be a bit challenging, I don't remember a parking lot nearby, but we were able to find street parking right outside the restaurant...so the parking Gods were definitely smiling upon us that day! I wasn't too sure what to expect since Man Jose has some brilliant offerings in Viet cuisine. I gotta say after eating here, Bun Bo Hue is on par with anything in Man Jose ;-)
Bún bò Huế - 5/5 Good size bowl...some generous portions! Tasty broth and a different type of noodle...not familiar with the thicker noodles they used. Can't forget to mention the big old pieces of Pork Blood cubes...great meal for the...
Read moreThis location seems a little sketchy by the picture. But it only looks that way because of its outward look. But what is that old saying? Do not judge a book by its cover. It definitely applies to this Vietnamese restaurant in Portland. It doesn't look that great on the outside. But the family that runs the place is definitely very warm and friendly. They don't have an awesome interior. It's pretty bland and they didn't take a lot of time thinking about decor and presence or feel of the restaurant. But the food more than makes up for it.
The staff is basically family here. It's a family run business. And they are super friendly, respectful and kind. Their English not so great. But understandable. Their kindness more than makes up for their lack of English. In terms of pricing - it is decent and definitely not expensive. The location is a little farther out. Still within Portland of course, but it's more south Portland. Definitely not in downtown area.
Definitely recommended to...
