Mgwalexs Hawaiian Grill — Restaurant in Portland

Well... Ordered on DoorDash 07/02/2021. Disappointed. The food overall, especially considering the price. I probably wouldn’t order it again. Either in person or with a food delivery service. Arrived hot enough (not a knock to the delivery person), but even though the portion was fairly reasonably sized (and I ordered it after all knowing the price, I’ve paid less for much better Hawaiian food. Ordered: Kahlua Pork (included side of cabbage and rice and Macaroni salad). All 4 items were underwhelming (and I was starving). It was around 6:00 p.m. and my first meal of the day). Spam Masubi x2 (one order) it was good, but not even good enough to finish, and the second one went to waste. The seaweed wrap was acceptable but the filling of rice was not fantastic and the spam was only somewhat fried (would have liked it to be more fried). I’m sure this may be one of those hit or miss places but I don’t really have the budget for more misses than hits. I rarely ever leave reviews for food, but this place honestly deserves it. My first time trying this restaurant and wow, the food blew me away. The yakisoba was next-level perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and you can tell the chefs truly care about what they make. I got the garlic chicken and accidentally chose the spicy option (totally my fault!), but even then it was incredible. Next time I’ll stick with the regular garlic chicken because the flavor alone was amazing.

This is easily one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time fresh, flavorful, and made with real care.

Pretty delicious food. We've had Hawaiian food over the years from different places, but we're were excited to try Mgwalexs. Picked up food for the family this weekend. Dad got moco loco and devoured the entire container. Loved it. Mom got the garlic chicken and I actually got to try some. Really tasty. The crunch on the outside was really well done and seasoned well. I got the kahlua pork. Really good execution. Juicy and richly umami in flavor. Ordinarily, mac salad isn't my fave side, but Mgwalexs got me to enjoy this. I didn't give it to my dad. I kept it all for myself. That's saying something. I'll definitely be...
