Just got takeout for the first time last night and WOW. We got the Mussaman Curry, the Kao Soi, Pad See Ew, and the Squid Rings. First of all, when they mean VERY HOT, they mean it which was refreshing. Spicy lovers will enjoy the hottest level. The squid was crunchy, and like all the dishes, were generously portioned. The star of the show was the Kao Soi. It's a soup, but under the noodle section because it comes with noodles, both crunchy and soft. It was rich, incredibly flavorful, and the textures all went together for a dish that really impressed. Next time we'll skip the curry for this dish because it was much more complex. Will definitely be back!

ChaBa Thai is another traditional Thai restaurant with a decade of history on Alberta Street. Their food is fantastic, very flavorful a moderate price. A decent amount of seating so you never really have to wait long for a table or sit outside in their rustic garden. We love the Pad Thai and the Spring rolls, nicely cooked and not overdone, never too hot unless you want it to be. Just ask and they will make it as hot as you can handle.

Very happy this restaurant was open on Christmas. Their Alberta location is located near the end of the artistic Alberta street. Street parking along the main road or side streets. The main reason why I came here was because they served khao soi! It was delicious but sweeter than what I had it in Thailand. Still pretty good tho! Their thai tea was also tasty and wasnt overly sweet. Generous portions at fair prices~

Here is how my dining experience went:

my order: "Can I get Pad Thai with no egg?" "Oh and can I substitute extra vegetables instead of tofu?" (I don't like tofu all that much) Waitress: "yeah, no problem"

Order comes, I start eating, waitress comes back to take away my plate because she said they cooked it with eggs. Whatever, fine. I wait for a few more minutes for my order. I get my order, finish eating and a different waitress brings the bill.

I see on the bill under my pad thai "Extra vegetables $1.50". I tell the other waitress that I substituted the tofu for extra veggies, she says ok no problem. Mind you this order had the same amount of vegetables that a normal Pad Thai would have (not even extra).

When the original waitress comes back to give our cards back she tells me that I ordered extra vegetables. I remind her that she agreed I could substitute the tofu for extra vegetables, and she tells me "We don't do substitutions". So I said "if you had told me that I would have not asked for extra vegetables in SUBSTITUTION."

Wait What??!?! If that was the case then why did you agree to substitute in the first place. I'll tell you why she did it. She did it deceitfully knowing full well she would add on another $1.50 (which isn't a big deal- but its vegetables subbed for tofu, I mean come on- this isn't subbing sirloin steak for tofu).

A normal wait staff person would have realized that the customer caught on to the unwarranted petty extra charge and not charged them for it- ESPECIALLY after messing up the original order, but this waitress had the audacity to try and tell me to my face that I ordered extra vegetables knowing it would not be substituted for tofu which is ridiculous.

I would not have even cared to write a review regardless of the mediocre dining experience, but when the waitress made a fuss about something that was her fault- That made me angry.

If someone asks you if they can substitute something for something else YOU DON'T SAY YES AND THEN CHARGE THEM FOR...

Barely understand English words to be as disrespectful to the country and to the people if I move to their country I would have to learn their language well it goes the same here I'm not racist I love foreigners I appreciate everything they do for our country but please have some respect and learn our language not only that I like well onto my late thirties which I hate to admit and parking was really bad because of the area and I had left my wallet in my truck and they wouldn't serve me a drink even though the lady before has see my ID so I refused to go get my ID again and now I refuse to go back there just for the scene and the disrespect that they had done I understand they have a job but the lady has seen my ID before she did remember me but then they went on acting like they didn't even speak a word of English and just completely ignored me and then got my to-go order wrong to top it off and forgot my tea which I had ordered also so then after getting all the way home I had to turn around come back and get the tea then the lady started making a scene in front of the whole restaurant which was quite embarrassing so I do not recommend to go here I'm sure it could have been just a bad day but still customer service is number one especially when you're a guest in our country but as far as the food I would give it about a seven out of ten to be honest for those who can get treated right and not have a bad experience like me the food is okay but it wasn't so good that I would be willing to go back there again after getting disrespected in embarrassed in front of the whole restaurant good...

The food was delicious but the service was beyond terrible. We went in for dinner on a slow night and only saw our waitress 3 times the first was to take our order all lumped together, drinks, appetizers, and meal. I was very thirsty by this time. Our appetizers came out after our food and the waitress just looked at us like we were stupid for asking where they were. No apology was offered, no refills were offered. My rice was burnt and when I showed the waitress there was still no apology for the lapse in service. There was a nice waitress who finally brought us our check at the end of our meal when the glaze of dissatisfaction had glossed over our eyes and our glasses were long empty, however, she might have been the bartender. I recommend this place as a take...
