When you walk in, you are greeted by a friendly "Hello!" that comes from the also friendly barista. You look around for a moment and instantly are attracted not only by the menu and food selections they have, but also by the character of the shop itself and the aroma of delicious coffee.
Me and my wife walked up to the barista who was very pleasant to conversate with, and had him make us a drink he would deem worthy of consumption. And let me tell ya, it was awesome.
We sat down at a wooden table by the window. The table showed that it had been proudly used well. The light flooded in on it through the window to expose scratches and wear from many years of use. It was almost like an art piece. One that bolstered heavy character. And that's the vibe I gathered from the whole place. The borderline rustic/industrial feel made for a very lovely aesthetic. But it only got better! After sitting down, I put that lovely cup of coffee to my lips and I was almost blown out the window. :P It was a very strong, well presented cappuccino that excited my palate. The barista had done his company proud by creating a cup of coffee for me and my wife that was absolutely, downright awesome.
Overall: The good service paired with an excellent, cultured atmosphere and the great products the offer; turned me into a believer. I would recommend this place...
Read moreThis is one of my regular neighborhood faves. They are quick about getting through the line at busy times but always friendly and swift with the interaction. When there is time they will happily engage and chat. All the folks working here seem to be awesome individuals contributing to the bettering of Portland community.
If you live nearby you know this is a local secret as Alberta is just blocks away.
The treats are good and the tea list is solid. They roast their own coffee and do so with care and love, the results shine through in the complexity you get in every cup.
A great work spot if you can deal with a louder space. But lots of windows at the front, power plugs along the walls and regular 2 to 4 person table surfaces. If you're gonna be all day you may need to venture out for real food but they've got you covered for the...
Read moreDisappointing service and the worst coffee shop in Alberta. Don't get the bagel, you've been warned! As most shops overdo it with the cream cheese, I specifically requested for it on the side. Nope - the bagel was smothered with layers of cream cheese! When I asked for a plate to unload all the extra cream cheese, the server frowned. Like the service, the bagel was tasteless.
None of the pastries are made in-house. The Cinnamon Crown was super sticky and doused with sugar while the chocolate croissant was nothing special. The mocha was the best part.
With so many wonderful coffee shops in Alberta, save your money and appetite. Head over to Arrow Coffee House or SeaStar Bakery, where all the scrumptious pastries are made fresh in-house and...
