I had lengua and buche tacos. These are the best tacos I've had in all of Portland in over twenty years. Firstly, and most important, they take great care preparing the meat. This is beyond ordinary taco making and earns them an undisputed crown. Secondly, my wife cannot eat onions, which is unorthodox. We're accustomed to this causing a hiccup in the order, maybe all tacos without or with onions. They got our entire order down pat, and it's just plain refreshing. Thirdly, an unorthodox menu feature in some circles, they let patrons add things like avocado, cheese, or crema to tacos, AND it's not expensive: 25¢ for most, 50¢ for one or two of them. (I'll try to clarify and edit later.) So you can customize any taco, which I think is a big deal topper. Lengua with avocado and verde is so perfect. I'm nerding out here, but it's deserved. Whether you're a casual Mexican food lover or a lifetime fanatic like myself, then I'm confident you'll be glad to make the trip. Hopefully, my wife will get a burrito next week so I can report back further. I'll probably try the chicken, beef, and or carnitas in order to give a more fulsom report/update. As for the whole cart pod, I really like the vibe. There's lots of shaded seating, which is important for me. Side note: there can be a lot of bees around in the summer. If you are bee averse, then maybe just stay away from the recycling bins. I'm a nature hobbyist, so I look right in there to see how they're getting along. (Additionally, I noted at least two yellow jacket traps and zero yellow jackets...
Read moreI’ve had the asada burrito, breakfast chorizo burrito, asada tacos, and nachos here. My husband loves the al pastor burrito and my brother enjoys the asada. The asada burrito is addictively delicious (best I’ve had and I never tire of them), the breakfast chorizo burrito is a bit heavy and one-note, the nachos are a hefty portion and pretty good, and the tacos are a bit on the dry side. The service is quick and relatively friendly. Once, I had to toss out a tray of tacos before, as there was a live, green caterpillar in the fresh veggies… I understand it can happen to all produce, but it was shocking. I’m just glad I noticed it before I ate it. Other than that, the asada burrito has no fresh greens inside that are likely to have bugs, and it tastes amazing. Consistent, fresh, and hot. The food cart gets its rating simply for having an awesome asada burrito and great...
Read moreTheir carnita burritos are to die for. And they are incredibly inexpensive. A whole meal that leaves your taste buds happy for what you would pay for junk at that chain that shall remain unspoken. Not sure how they only have 4.5 stars when everyone rightfully rates them 5 stars. You will too.
UPDATE: I just had yet another one. My tastebuds insisted that I brag about it. No matter where you live in PDX, make the drive out to the hood on 82nd. This is the place.
UPDATE 2: they have apparently gone out of business. It has been several days since they've been open even though it is during their posted business hours. Bad form if they are still in business. Definitely not worth going out of your way for because they probably will not be open. What a shame, they were the best...
