We recently had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant, and overall, the experience was delightful. The flavor and spices infused into the dishes were exceptional, creating a memorable taste adventure.
The variety in the menu, especially with chicken and lamb dishes, showcased a skillful blend of spices. The chicken was bursting with flavor and had just the right amount of spice, the lamb was fatty in a good way, delivered a rich taste that was undeniably satisfying.
However, a word of caution regarding the green sauce: it might be a bit intense for some palates, so proceed with caution if you're not a fan of extra heat, for us it was perfect.
Beyond the culinary journey, the location and vibe of the restaurant, surrounded by neighboring eateries, was perfectly Portland & similar to an indoor food truck pod. We loved having the brewery next door to complement the food.
The service was another highlight – impeccable and attentive. The staff went above and beyond to ensure a pleasant dining experience.
To top it off, the sambusa was a delightful surprise, packing a punch of flavors that perfectly complemented the meal. Overall, a highly recommended dining destination for those who appreciate bold flavors and...
Read moreFirst of all, the food all has this incredible balance. Green hot sauce is spicy, but gives a freshness to the sambusas, the rice or any of the meats. The salad is brilliant with the vinegarette having a sweet, acidic and light presence among the parsley, onion, lettuce and tomatoes. The chicken and rice is a fresh lunch plate that probably causes log jams of to-go orders, smoky-herbacious-savory marinaded and perfect tenderness to go with the veggies. Spicy beef and non-spicy beef along with the soft injera brings a comfort richness that pairs with the wonderfully stewed lentils, pickled cabbage and carrots and an awesome side of beets and potatoes. Every vegetable and meat is cared for and sauced, providing a curated meal for anyone who is going to this food stall. If I lived in the neighborhood, I would have a running tally and all of their stewed items in my fridge, making my home, family and stomach feel like the food,...
Read moreWhat a great lunch! Took my students here as part of the unit they had created, and they loved the food! Our group wrestler had the lamb and rice: loved it! The rest had chicken and rice and so enjoyed it they wanted to come back. The lovely lady who took care of us was attentive, and we felt pampered. She even made us complementary tea, which the students fell in love with. Being an experiential class, they asked how can we make the tea? She was amazing with her patience as she explained the steps and gave them a sample so we could make some in class. Just a great experience. I asked the students to give me one word to describe the food: aromatic, filling, satisfying, and delicious. Highly recommend it and bring an appetite as the portions...
