Blank Slate — Restaurant in Portland

We visit Blank Slate Bar every week and love their fresh oysters, tasty, original cocktails and great beer selection. Their small plates are really good and the owners and employees are super-nice and accommodating. It's a convenient place to meet friends or business associates if you're on your way home from work since they open at 4 p.m. Thursday through Tuesday each week. Closed on Wednesdays. Thanks for adding some much-needed swank to the North Glisan neighborhood. You guys are contributing a wonderful social hub in this up and coming neighborhood. What a great bar. Great staff, great drinks for lower prices than they probably should be, and an atmosphere that doesn’t make me feel like an old guy.

Whoever came up with the milk and cookies concept (see picture) is brilliant. You get 3 baked to order molasses cookies served with a mini White Russian. Fantastic. And when that freshly baked cookie scent comes raging across the bar everyone around you will start whispering about how they too want some cookies. And then more and more plates of joy come out. Our classy senior friend introduced us to Blank Slate and we've since enjoyed it several times. It's a smallish spot but also intimate. Quirky decor, in a tasteful way--modern/vintage mix. Love the silent movies and their eclectic vinyl selection. The cocktails are super and the small bites on offer are creative and delicious. The bartender on our last visit was working hard but was also attentive and kindly assisted me in the need for both beverage and meal modifications due to diet restrictions.
