1.0 star rating 9/19/2017 If I could give this a negative star I would.

We got there and there was only one other table with people sat at it. The hostess(?) said sit anywhere. The place we chose was apparently out of bounds so we chose another boot.

The hostess told us that we would have a 30 minute to 45 minute wait. We, of course were curious why, and she said, in a snippy sort of way, "We have 10 to go orders ahead of you."

Now, I don't mind waiting for good food, at least a reasonable amount of time, but we didn't even get water for at least another 20 minutes. For some reason, I thought that someone would take our order so that we could somehow get INTO that line of orders. I mean, if you never take our order aren't more and more called in take out orders just going to keep coming in?

After about half an hour we asked how much longer it was going to be. The hostess said at least another 30 minutes. My aunt, who came in a few minutes after my friend and I said, you said it would be half an hour. The hostess said "No, I said half hour to 45 minutes, and you weren't even here so how would you know?"

That pretty much did it for us. We left and ate at Taco...

I just realized that I have been ordering from here for 15 years and haven't left a review. Absolutely shameful because New Happy Fortune is GREAT if you are in the mood for really good, hot, classic American Chinese food at a reasonable price. Really good portions and very delicious.

This is my order every time and it's great: Vegetable Lo Mein, Sesame Beef, and Sweet and Sour Pork. They include Steamed Rice with this order for no extra charge. My wife got Sweet and Sour Chicken tonight by mistake and I swear it was just as good if not better than the pork!

I know lots of people use delivery services for this place because I see them in droves when I go get my order but I encourage you to call in your order and go pick it up yourself. It's alot of fun sitting there watching the orders ahead of you go through and making small talk with Jenny. Make sure you request hot mustard and soy sauce. Mix them both together and dip your food in it. Soooo good if you like spice.

This is a great local business that I will continue to support as long as we are both around. Okay, I am going back...

I recently ordered takeout from New Happy Fortune, and while I don't usually like to leave negative reviews, this was, unfortunately, one of the worst takeout experiences I’ve had. I ordered some of my kids' usual favorite Chinese dishes—broccoli beef, spring rolls, and pork fried rice—but none of them were up to par.

The broccoli was barely cooked, and the sauce was both overly sweet and too salty. The pork fried rice was dry and tasted like it had been reheated from days before. As for the spring rolls, they arrived soggy and completely fell apart—they definitely didn’t travel well.

I also tried the orange chicken and General Tso's chicken. Both were incredibly sweet, though the General Tso's at least had a bit of spice to cut through the sweetness. However, both chicken dishes were disappointingly dry. The fried shrimp was not properly cleaned, and while that usually doesn’t bother me, these were particularly bad.

Overall, this was far from the quality of Chinese takeout I’m used to in Portland. I was hoping for a better experience, but sadly, New Happy Fortune fell short in...

I think I've found my new fave Chinese takeout spot in Portland! New Happy Fortune is an awesome, unassuming, 'hole-in-the-wall' restaurant that has HUGE portions for great prices. I had the "U Pick" 1 entree + 3 sides meal. With Mandarin chicken as my entree, and my sides: 4 crab puffs, orange chicken, and steamed rice (All for $15.95) The platter it was served on was basically the size of my head, and the portions were piled high! It is a great meal to split with 2, maybe 3 people. I stopped by for my lunch after working at the high school nearby and had to take home a full to-go box (gonna be my dinner for later!) The chicken was super crispy and flavorful, and I highly recommend trying the Mandarin chicken! I'm definitely coming back again!

Good food but they gaslit me on the phone claiming what the delivery driver sent me was correct, when it was not. Fried Wontons are supposed to have a filling, but what I got was $8 potato-like chips. There was no filling, just wonton wrappers missing the ingredients. When I called they claimed that's how the wontons are supposed to come. Any google search anywhere says there is supposed to be a filling. I didn't want overpriced chips. Their food is good otherwise, I guess just don't buy the wontons unless you want bland, overpriced, fried crispy air and some gaslighting!
