We finally made it over to Oly’s last night. It’s nice to have a good thin crust “NY” style pizza within a 2 block radius. I didn’t realize they had slices (they need to make this a bit bigger on their menu) but I had heard from a neighbor that they did. They had 3 vegetable and 3 meat selections available and hubby and I had a slice of The Floyds and Dillion. The Dillon was nice with whole garlic cloves on it, but The Floyds was fantastic with the red onion really bringing out the flavors of the sauce. The crust is crispy on the edges (as thin crust should be) and the bottom bendable if that’s your thing. The slice is very generous and they do a $1 off HH from 4-5 and 8-9. They had 4 beers on draft that including a good Red, Pilsner, IPA and Porter and some other more quirky beverage choices. There’s some seating inside (about the same as the previous occupant) and they have decorated it in a nice casual way showing their Vermont roots. I think this is a nice addition to our neighborhood and look forward to some lunch openings as well in the future

When I walked in the door of Oly's, before I had a chance to look around, I was greeted by the same smell that I grew up with 50 years ago in my local pizza place in Massachusetts. The owners of came to Portland after extensive restaurant experience in Vermont, so I'm thrilled that both myself and the folks from Oly's have made our way to the east side of the Willamette at the same time. The 'Dillon' pie (sausage, roasted garlic, mozzarella and ricotta) was my introduction to their kitchen, and I suspect that it may take several more trips before I'm able to try anything else - good sausage was one of the main things I had a hard time finding when I first came to Portland, so I'm always delighted to find it nearby. The Oly's web site indicates that they may expand their hours to include lunch, and I look forward to that option, particularly since they sell both whole pies, and also make their creations available by the slice. Welcome to the neighborhood.

I hate to leave a bad review, but this pizza really bummed me out. It was like someone took a decent slice of New York pizza and left it uncovered in the fridge for a week or stuck it in a dehydrator. The cheese was sparse and dried out as was the sauce. If it had more toppings and wasn’t overcooked I’d imagine it could be solid. We picked it up so we can’t blame it sitting in a driver’s car too long. Chocolate chip cookie was great though.

I called Oly's to see if they'd be able to accommodate my basketball team after their last game. They weren't originally planning on being opened that early, but when they heard we wanted to celebrate our season there, they obliged. We filled their small but quaint space to the max with players, siblings, and familes. The pizza was ready when we got there, and the service was so warm and helpful. I could tell they're in business for the right reasons - serving their community through yummy food. The only unfortunate thing is that they aren't located in my school's immediate neighborhood, so we could show them continued love. Regardless, next time we're in the area looking for a slice, we'll definitely stop in. Thanks Oly's for putting an exclamation point on the Flame Throwers already...
