Peter's Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Portland

I have ordered to-go from here a few times and it was fine. One order was missing something but no big deal. After a couple months of not ordering from here I decided I wanted a burger. I ordered 1 cheeseburger add an egg, wings and a star about burger with no onions and add bacon with truffle fries. When I got home I seen I had NO BACON and regular shoestring fries with no salt, truffle, etc but yet I was charged for these things AND each item I ordered I was charged an additional $0.50 on each item because it was to-go. I called them to let them know part of my order was wrong the woman I spoke to was RUDE. When she put the phone down to figure out what happened I heard her say “yea we are never doing this for them again” who is “us” are you referring to me being black!? She then comes back to the phone with an attitude and says “well we are closed so you can come back tomorrow and we will refund you for the bacon and truffle fries but we will no longer be able to do special orders for you because it’s to complicated for the kitchen” what’s complicated about 1 burger add an egg and the other burger no onions? You can’t make me eat something I don’t like!!! I will NEVER eat at this place again. I guarantee you if I was a white woman it wouldn’t be a problem that I modified my burgers and I wouldn’t have someone talking to me with an attitude. When I called I wasn’t upset, didn’t yell or anything. I just simply stated that I was charged for things I didn’t get and was instantly met with attitude. If your kitchen staff can’t modify food to someone’s liking then they shouldn’t be a cook!! And whoever the woman is who answered needs to learn what good customer service is...

Well I had just moved in across the street and decided to check this place out. I am a bit of a bar fly and always eat out so I liked that I had a place right across the street. I walked in and ordered a sandwich and I also explained that I had just moved in across the street that day and had had a long day of moving and boy was it a hot day today. The woman behind the counter just shrugged and said "that will be $6.50 with her hand out"..I settled in. I then noticed an iphone charger on the counter and politely asked if I could use it really quickly being that I had not been able to find my own charger and my battery was dead. She actually said no because she was "about to charge her own phone"..um..okay..I then asked if I could use the landline and the answer "nope" (mind you I was the absolute only person in the entire place) and I then asked if there was a payphone near by and she said "nope"..The sandwich was mediocre, the atmosphere was mediocre and there are 5 bars/restaurants within 3 blocks that you can choose from..for this place to really succeed they would need to give folks a reason to come in. A smile and great customer service would have been a wonderful reason for me to become a regular but instead I will never set foot in the door again. By the way: if you are an owner and reading this..the woman with the terrible attitude was a black middle aged lady with shorter hair. I would fire her if it were me....

I went to this Bar for the 2014 USA vs Portugal game. Even though the bar literally filled and emptied in a three hour window, the staff held it down, got us our food and drinks quickly, and everything was great. Having worked in the restaurant business, I am very familiar with being "slammed," which they most definitely were. Even so, service was great. Prices were economical. The owner was there and even sat with us and chatted for a while. He bought the place last fall and has been pouring energy into it with steady progress per his report. Chances are, if you go, the owner will be there and will be able to assist your party to have the best experience possible. He is targeting younger crowds and sports culture (soccer, football, collegiate athletics, etc). He is an avid Oregon Duck, but his wife is an avid Oregon State Beaver (believer, like me). Overall, chances are you will have an excellent experience at this bar with warm ambiance and a cross between dive and cool metro vibe. Everything was clean, and all staff were friendly and attentive. I would definitely go again. Worth a look for sure if you are in town, and if you live nearby, you might just...
