Sabor Maya Mexican Cuisine — Restaurant in Portland

I ordered an omelette my husband ordered enchiladas. When the manager took my order I asked for crispy potatoes he immediately shut me down and said 'our potatoes are crispy'.....I said ok. They brought my husband's plate then I'm not even kidding I had to wait 8mins for my plate. The waitress told me my plate took longer cause of the omelette. My omelette was paper thin. The egg too. I've been a cook for 8yrs and a waitress for 15. It's poor service to serve a 2 top their plates 10 mins apart. When the manager came to my table to ask the matter I calmly told him I was displeased and that my potatoes were in fact under cooked. He took my plate but not before telling me I don't have to be rude. I wasn't being rude I was calmly letting him know I was upset my food came out 8 mins after my husband's and then about my potatoes. Another 7mins later here comes my plate. Potatoes perfect. Meanwhile both waitresses mean mugging me passing by to look out the emergency exit door. Like seriously. So when I paid I asked to talk to the manager and told him I wasn't pleased with him telling me I'm being rude when I was just explaining my issue...and he told me "as much as id like to give you the food for free I can't" i said '" im not asking for free food im telling you my issue with the experience i just had" then ten looked at me and said "thatll be 26.54." I gave them a hundred and they said they can't break a hundred. Luckily I had 26 in ones on me. I will never ever give my business to this restaurant again. Food wise : my omelette innards were charred my beans were ice cold. I had to ask for warm toast after waiting for my plate...

While the food was really tasty, the service fell below expectations. The waitress would forget about us. There seemed to other waitresses less busy, but ours looked like she couldn't manage.

Most of the time, she would prioritize our requests in a way that would not meet our needs. Whether it was to bring more drinks, or salsa, or a to go box, ahe wouod take a long time.

We were still eating some food, kind of munching on things, when our waitress asked if she could remove our salsas to give them to the neighboring table. She did not clean the bottles that we had touched, and she directly placed them on the other table. I now wonder if when those bottles were brought to our table, how many other hands had touched them. That was gross.

I was planning to stay there longer just enjoying our time there. So I asked for more salsa to continue eating the chips I still had there, plus a to go box for our leftover food. Again, all I asked was more salsa since our bottles had been taken away, and I wanted to stay eating the chips that we had on our table. Again, she took a long time to come back with my bill, but no salsa.

I ended up telling her that we had to leave, so she did not have to bring the salsa anymore. She responded that she had to bring it because they had already charged me extra for it. I told her that I did not want it nor wanted to pay extra. She just brought back the salsa in a to go container, and my bill was not adjusted.

I was disappointed that what could have been a very nice date night there ended up in a sour experience even getting charged extra...

I’ve had this once before ordered through drive through … FOOD was amazing! … we didn’t receive any tortillas… food forgotten and when we called it was a oh I’m so sorry… so yesterday we came inside and ate as a family … it wasn’t too packed but I guess me and my family didn’t look the part ! Our waitress blew us off a few times and had other people keep coming to serve us … other people were served before us … I honestly figured she was worried about not being tipped. I know we didn’t look like the usual clientele that comes to eat… but my husband had sandals (worked in boots all day) so they assumed negatively and definitely served us as if we weren’t important …. Food was good fresh… we asked for a second drink and watched about 3 other people who came in after we asked for a refill get served drinks before the second drink was even served to us … we asked for a Serrano pepper and the waitress that wasn’t ours had a attitude but she came to the table to bring the beer she dropped all over the floor bringing it to us …. And they watched us to see what we tipped after we left … yes I did tip, but did they deserve it ? no! And it was more than 5$ … I own my own business so I always tip accordingly and I just feel the service was HORRIBLE! My experience inside was not one for me to go back or recommend … and it’s not a upscale restaurant to even be upscale dressed at … so I’m not sure where we were judged at I guess our tattoos.
