Ok, we moved to the area (Yarmouth) in December from 25 years in San Francisco. We had been searching for a good experience that felt familiar and we finallllllly found it - the ā€œKnotted Apronā€! Holy shit, a solid 10/10 in my book. It had neighborhood charm, understated ambience, but more importantly the food was amazingly good - fresh, simple but executed flawlessly and perfectly. This felt like our neighborhood gems in SF that locals knew but tourists had to figure out. Surprised this chef had not been James Beard nominated as it torches some of the other places in town that have. We brought a verrrrry nice bottle of Billecart from 2005 to celebrate my birthday. Their corkage is $40 per bottle. We started with the bread. OMFG, the best bread I have had in ages. so crunchy but yet soft and not sweet like American bread tends to be. We then got a salad and I got the chicken liver mouse. The salad was perfectly dressed and fresh. The mouse - seriously, any time this is on the menu, you would be an idiot NOT to order it. We went onward to entrees and got the steak with potatoes and I got the halibut with chorizo, white beans. Both had so much flavor. I actually want to try and recreate the halibut dish at home as it was unexpected and delicious - who would have thought chorizo and a white fish could work so well together? The service was quirky, fun, and perfect. We had a young gentlemen with the most perfect mustache I’ve ever seen lol! He was so attentive but not intrusive - which is a hard thing to perfect. He helped guide us through the menu and also did not try to oversell us on anything. Overall, this just moved into my overall #1 slot in all of Portland - and frankly, I can sometime be a picky jerk šŸ„“ā¤ļø (working on self-awareness lol)

July 2022: This time time this food was good but not as fabulous as a year ago. I had a crab cake appetizer and duck main entre. I enjoyed the duck, the appetizer was average. The duck side was cabbage and sour cream, an unusual combination that I liked. August 2021:Established in 2020, The Knotted Table is well positioned for safe pandemic dining. 8 outdoor tables are surrounded by flowers and positioned under umbrellas. Inside there are four tables and a bar onto the open kitchen where you can see the chefs creating their magic. And the food is magical. Shrimp cake was outstanding, with flavorful sauce and interesting sides. The duck was a great sauce with a hint of curry. The trout, a whole fish, flavorful with a great tomato and red pepper sauce. We picked the restaurant for the outdoor seating, but will be back because of the fabulous food.

I heard great things about this restaurant but it left much to be desired. Upon our arrival we were spoken to by the hostess as we were walking through the door as we did not close it on ourselves. Apparently not letting the AC out is more important than letting their customers in. Next, this yellow dress woman has the audacity to sit us outside in the only table directly in the sun while every other table of equal size and place setting was unoccupied - we were the only ones out there and every other table was shaded. Drinks were refreshing - because my mouth was a desert. The food portions were small and overpriced, tasted good for the second and a half it took to consume it. When it comes to the main course - I can stay at home and cook store bought duck and have 4x the portion and 100x the flavor as the plate that was handed to me. 10/10 would...
