We went to Rays for my mom's birthday dinner and was very disappointed in our dinner. It was apparent that the scallops were not made to order and were just tossed in the fryer along the fries for a reheat. I witnessed them being reheated. Our food was barely tepid. The fries were a soggy floppy mess void of any seasoning. The cole slaw was room temperature and flavorless. I understand if I had a long drive home after picking up our takeout but Lafayette rd to Ocean/Bansfield rd drive only to get lukewarm chewy scallops, shrimp and floppy fries. Anyway, Rays was very disappointing for the 113 bucks we paid for 2 combos and a lg scallops dinner. We were the only patrons in there so you were not too busy. My mom did state she enjoyed her clams which we didn't try so you get 2 stars for that. We won't be back to Rays...
Read moreMy second time here and my choice for our Mother's Day lunch. I love to cozy atmosphere here. Everything is sparkling clean and there is a nice variety of seats (indoor dining) - picnic tables - some with padded benches, regular tables and individual stools along a bar against the wall. We got the haddock chowder to start. It is packed with super fresh haddock and the broth is ocean-fresh delicious! We were so full after the generous portion of chowder (we got the "cup" for $9.99) that we decided to split a large combo plate - clams and scallops. ($31.99) The scallops were large, tender and juicy. So good! And the whole belly clams were cooked perfectly and also sweet and delicious. The staff is super friendly and helpful which made my Mother's Day lunch that much nicer! We will...
Read moreIgnore the negative reviews- our experience was excellent! Everyone working was incredibly kind and helpful- they let us eat in after coming in 5 minutes before closing (we didn’t realize they closed at 7 on Sunday). Portions were very generous, especially for the price and product. We got clam chowder, fish and chips, and a fried clam strip basket- all three we would order again! I’m thankful we gave them a try and look forward to...
