The Barrel II — Restaurant in Portsmouth

First, the good. Really like the owner, Audra I believe is her name. She is very upbeat and a great advocate for the business. The bartenders are all nice also. The Sunday brunch is really good and the service was fast. Good happy hour prices for drinks.

We have visited a few times in the evening, and it’s been very hit or miss as far as food goes. The night we ordered wings, they were really good, but it took almost an hour to get them. And it wasn’t busy at all that night , no more than 10 folks and we were the only ones ordering food. Another visit the wait for food was more than 30 minutes for a burger and some undercooked fries. I really want to be a regular but you just don’t know what you’re gonna get...

Worst experience ever! We arrived with friends for dinner and waitress too busy advising us we had to pay out when shift switched at 6 we ordered steaks and AFTER 30 min waitress comes back and said they only had 2 steaks WTH we had 3 other folks with us so they ordered pork chops and then she said oh we only have 1 so finally after sitting there for close to a hour we were served 2 Cold steaks and our friends ordered hamburgers took another 39 min we were so disappointed and thought they need John Tapper to learn how to run a bar anyway we did Tip our 2nd waitress good she tried hard with lack of help sure hope service gets better we always enjoyed the...

I have nothing against old people but this is a bar for old people. Really the bar itself was actually kind of a vibe with some nice live music going to set the atmosphere but the age gap of this place made me feel like if we tried to have a conversation with one of them they'd start telling us about they're thrilling Adventures of when they were neighborhood Milkman during the Cold War.
