We were going to the casino and wanted to grab a quick dinner beforehand. Saturday evening 5pm, looked quick at the map, and figured what the heck. So the place was not crowded yet, but you could tell they were setting up for an event later. As soon as we walked in, we were immediately greeted and told to sit wherever we'd like. A really nice server came over, asked if it was our first time there and brought menus, got our drinks order, and went to go get them. We realized, you are probably supposed to order at the counter as we saw the "order here" sign with your table number, but we didn't know and they took care of us so we didn't see it until later.
She explained every Friday at 5 is Happy Hour and had already brought us that menu as well. There isn't a huge list of things, but pricing is extremely affordable on the regular menu as well, and what we had was absolutely delicious. We had burgers, fries, corn nuggets, and I got the rice with chicken. It was amazing on its own. It had come with a sauce, but my stomach and heat are not friends. I tried it, and it was a tasty sauce with just a tiny kick at the end, but I am old, and even that would do me in. When she came back to check on us a few moments after we started eating, she noticed I didn't put the sauce on, and I admitted it was my own issues, my friend was dipping her fries in it, the server offered to bring me "sticky" sauce which is sweet not spicy, came right back with it. Y'all if she decides to bottle that stuff, I'll drive the hour to go get it. It was phenomenal.
Now as you can tell from the description, which we didn't read until we got in there, it's a cigar bar. There are going to be smokers, and even with it not being crowded there was some smoke. Know that going in and don't complain, if it would bother you, get take out. They also have a nice patio section outside. You can tell the "vibe" of the place is going to be more of an older generation crowd, to sip you drink, smoke your cigar, and just chill.
Highly recommend these folks for their delicious food, great prices, and really nice staff. They really made us...
Read moreUpdate: I was invited back by the manager, and we accepted. There was still a slight miscommunication of what, "I got you!" meant. Nevertheless, the food, music, and service were worth the visit, which is why I changed my rating.
My best friend described the burger as the best burger she ever ate! I was really impressed with the corn fritters! The lemon drop and long island were made with perfection. We stayed longer than we anticipated because it was karaoke night, and my bestie wanted to sing Sweet Tennessee.
We are happy we gave this business grace because it was a good vibe. I don't eat beef, but I will bring my friends back to try the burger. For sure!
My advice to the manager is to stand on your word! That's all we have.
Fix the hours on your website. We drove from Norfolk to Portsmouth to get cocktails and dinner. The website indicated they closed at 11:00 PM. However, once we arrived. We were told they closed at 9:00 PM. Your customers are wasting gas to patronize your establishment. Care for your customers by updating your hours on your...
