We went to this restaurant for dinner. There were many issues upon arrival. Initially we were not greeted by a host/hostess and had to hunt someone down. Once we were seated, we were given a paper menu that was very limited. In reviewing the menu, it left us with far more questions than answers. My daughter wanted a hamburger but there was not one clearly stated on the menu, instead there were descriptions that eluded to possibly being sandwiches or burgers. Our waiter Joe, explained that the top 2 items were burgers and the others were sandwiches, and unless you were in on the menu writing process you would have no way to know this. Second big foul of the evening. We ordered the short rib sandwiches and they were much more a pot roast style and again not well defined on the menu as Joe said that it had gravy as stated. We pointed out that it did not state anything about a gravy. We ordered this anyway. We also ordered a wine and a cocktail, the wine pour was not very generous as Joe stated it was a 6 oz pour. Once our meals came out, the beef was a bit tough and no steak knife was offered. During this time we did not get offered and refill drinks. Not only was the service SLOW but it was also very incomplete. We then decided to order what sounded like a lovely peach cheesecake based on the menu description. After a good amount of wait time, Joe brought us a plate that did not have a cheesecake slice on it but rather what looked like the scrapping of a batter bowl remnants and two large peaches cut in half, one grilled and the other undetermined. We cut the peaches up trying to determine what we were even looking at, took a taste and felt it was bland and confusing. We asked Joe to our table, explained that this was not what we expected and in no way was a cheesecake, he took it away and said to us “everyone is entitled to their opinion.” We expressed that we were not happy with it. He then brought us the bill, still no drink refills or an offer of any replacement dessert. Once I looked at the bill we had been charged an additional entree of $17 and he had not removed the dessert. After waiting for a long period of time, I was able to let Joe know we were over charged and that we thought he would have taken the not so cheesecake off the bill. He said he normally would not do that. I had to debate him and request a few times that I was not paying for this. He reluctantly took the two items off and brought a corrected bill. So once we go the new bill we waited for at least 15 minutes, I had to go ask the bar tender if she could cash us out and she said no. She did go hunt down Joe who then finally brought us the charge slips so we could pay. I am sure it goes without saying that this was not a good experience and I doubt I will eat...

If I can give negative stars I would. We took our mother here for a good classic Saturday brunch like we use to enjoy here in our childhood. Let's start with the restaurant was empty only 1 other table of 2 who was finishing their food when we sat down. We were not given Silverware or even water until asked 3 times nicely. One cup that was given had old milk inside, we ignored it and nicely asked for a new one. The waitress took 30 minutes to even take our drink order. Fast forward another 30 mins, we are now 1 hour in. We have order food and a second round of drinks. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks the waitress responded with she need a personal minute (we are at a total of 3 tables in the establishment now). We do have 8 people in this party but our food was brought out 3 plates first with an undetermined amount of time for the others. The first 3 plates were returned I could squeeze my eggs Benedict eggs with no movement. The gravy on the chicken fried steak was solid rubber. The plates were warmer then the actual food. The manager came out with a non kitchen grade thermometer (the kind you scan peoples forheads with) and our food registered at 90° (In food safety regulations in idaho food cannot be served under 135° idaho food code 3-403.11) she took this food back. Another 15 minutes later the rest of the tables food was served now the thermometer was at the table and was served at 105° a few people ate their food now. I refused to pay for my food only my drinks and I didn't want replace food. The manager came back very rude and actually yelled at our table and said we had attitude. I responded with I will not except cold food in an empty restaurant after waiting over an hour and a half. We paid for all our drinks and and the 4 meals that came back at 105° they charged us a 20% tip non negotiatable tip. And the manager refused to get us in touch with the GM. The manager stated when we got snippy at her, after her extreme rudness we threw food at her staff when we only showed our waitress the food was rubber. Do not eat here the staff is completely lazy and the manager with blonde and purple hair is rude, as attitude and will not communicate...

My husband and I stayed at the Red Lion hotel in Post Fall early February. Both nights we ate at the on-site Current Kitchen restaurant. We were both amazed at the quality of our dinners.

The first night we both had fish and chips. I asked if they could add more salad to my side salad instead of one of the vegetables that came with the entrée. They accommodated without question. My husband and I both took a bite of our french fries at the same time. We both looked at each other and said, “ oh my gosh! These are so good!“. The fish was tender on the inside, nice and crunchy on the outside. Both our salad dressing and the tartar sauce were homemade. So so good.

The next night I had the fish and chips again and my husband had the short ribs. He said they were the best short ribs he’d ever had.

We went back again, and without planning for it, it happened to be Valentines. They were not serving the regular menu but a special valentine menu. At first I was disappointed because I wanted fish and chips again. My husband got the steak entrée and I got the Alfredo entrée with added salmon. Oh my gosh! I was so glad they had the special menu because I would’ve never tried the salmon. I can’t even describe how good that dish was. Absolutely amazing.

Kayla was our server twice out of our three visits. She was so accommodating, had a bubbly sweet personality and she made us feel welcomed and cared for.

Cody was the chef on each of our visits. What a fine young man he is. You can tell that he takes pride in the food he prepares. He came out and talked to us each time. That was very sweet of him to take out the time to talk to two old people 😊 I believe he has turned that kitchen around.

My husband and I had been there two years ago and we’re not impressed and had not planned on ever going back. But due to our car breaking down and the restaurant and hotel being close to work, we stayed there those first two nights. What a happy mishap. We will be back often and we highly recommend the Current Kitchen at the Red Lion hotel.

Lynn and...

**This is an update from 03/22/2024** We were there for an event, and food was served downstairs in a meeting room. I did not have breakfast, but I was there to smell the burning of the tortillas from the burner under the hotel pan. I ate lunch, what could be salvaged of it. For $15 it was a clamshell container that had been in the fridge for quite a while. There was a sourdough sandwich with meat and American cheese. The sandwich was wrapped in plastic wrap. This made the bread wet and mushy. There was also a tiny orange and a store bought cookie. (And containers of mayonnaise and mustard, with no utensils to spread it). For dinner, which was $40 a person…(there was about 40 of us) fried chicken which was completely cold and raw inside, dried out Mac and cheese (no cheese sauce, just boiled noodles with cheese sprinkled on it) and a salad. (With not enough utensils for everyone) Thats it, no other food. We alerted the staff that the chicken was raw. They took the hotel pan of chicken away, and came back 20 minutes later with the exact same hotel pan that looked like they just put it all in an oven and baked it on high for a few minutes. When cutting open the chicken they “re-cooked”, it was still bloody and raw in parts. This is absolutely unacceptable! We left and went to Sawmill Grill down the street. Which is absolutely delicious!! (And apparently the staff that works at the hotel, bartenders etc…tell all their guests to go to the Sawmill Grill and don’t eat the food at Current Kitchen inside the hotel. Now that’s saying something! **The below review is my first one from 2 years ago. The atmosphere is spacious, barely any people. The chicken cordon blue was okay. The fish and chips were very small, the ranch dressing is delicious, and the monte Cristo sandwich was okay. I was disappointed they added a third piece of bread in the center, this made it soggy in the middle, almost undercooked. I also did not care for the panko bread crumb on the outside. A lot of bread and little meat.

We were excited to try this restaurant after it was taken over by Stancraft. The previous operation, Currents, was not good. The patio, as I have said before, is one of the best spots in North Idaho. The new seating is incredibly uncomfortable. All high tops with no cushions and not enough, not big enough, umbrellas. Service was friendly but not particularly professional. Food was kind of a mixed bag. We ordered some aracini balls and some bread service. Both of which were fine, but we were not brought plates nor napkins nor utensils. When asked for plates we still weren't brought napkins nor utensils. We waited approximately 45 minutes to get our meals. And when they came out, I must say they looked beautiful. But when you order pasta that's close to $25 and it has no meat in it you would expect that they would bring out some cheese or some kind of topping, but they did not. My ahi looked beautiful and was actually pretty good. My son's huckleberry barbecue chicken breast looked okay, but was a very tough piece of chicken and not particularly good. My wife said her pasta was pretty good but needed something else. Overall disappointed. Really deserves about a 3.9. We spent $163 with a tip for 3 meals, some appetizers and 4 drinks. When you have a very limited menu, which this restaurant does, everything better be very good. Felt like we didnt quite get our money's worth. Hopefully this place gets their act together primarily on the service side, as it's not up to par with the pricing. It could be something really great and, as I said, the people were friendly enough and even responsive, just not particularly professional and this place has been open for a while so I don't quite get it?

The worst dam bar (and restaurant) in PF. My wife and I first sat at the bar. Service was OK until I asked if we could move to the patio to a table with umbrella (very sunny). She said "sure sir, that can be arranged." Is it me? Or was I wrong to assume that she would ask someone to set up a table with umbrella? Well she didn't. So I had to close out our tab. I asked for the check, the bartender acknowledged me then took orders and served other customers. Waited about 10 minutes just to pay. Then had go to the podium as if we just got there and ask for the setup. Done. Got a table. Then came the drink order. Same bartender that made wife's cosmo in a martini glass, make this one on the rocks. Go figure. So waiter takes order. Appetizer first. Chips and salsa. salsa was pretty tasty. Then we order the entrees. Took a very long time. My wife ordered another cosmo. I saw it sitting on the bar for a while. Took about half hour from order to get the drink. Entrees finally come. My wife ordered the pasta dish (don't remember the name). It was dry. apparently making cutback on sauce portion. I ordered the Caesar salad with salmon. OK I have no idea how to describe the salmon other than TINY!!!! Talk about cutbacks! Seriously, I've had chicken nuggets larger than this piece. I'm not exaggerating! I took a picture but should have put a fork next to it to give the right impression. The service ZERO stars. Food ZERO stars.
