Update: Not sure why this was removed, since the original review in 2012 I've since went back to Joe's Gizzard City. Unfortunately still not a place that I would go out of my way to eat at. Original Post: I heard about Joe's Gizzard City from watching "Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives." At first I was quite optimistic after reading all the good reviews about this place. However, after arriving and having my eardrums massively assaulted by extremely loud and obnoxious rap music (wasn't edited) I was no longer optimistic. After sitting down with my family we were greeted by an extremely nice waitress who took our drinks and quickly returned to take our order. My family ordered a variety of different foods including the Joe's Big Burger, the 4 Piece Chicken Dinner, The Philly Cheese-steak, and the Shrimp Dinner.
When our food arrived everything looked excellent and we were excited that the reviews didn't let us down. This was however short lived do to this being the most over-rated food I've ever had the displeasure of consuming. The burger was drowning in ketchup that had to be disassembled and then reassembled after removing the ketchup, which even after was hard to eat as it was bland and burnt. The 4 Piece Chicken Dinner which was breaded, was quite nasty, some of the chicken I wouldn't even touch. The batter that breaded the chicken was bland and distasteful as everything else we ordered.
As we realized that this was food that was so highly rated was in fact horrible, we spent most of our time drinking the fountain drinks ($2.49 a piece) that happened to be the best thing that we ordered. As we ran out of drinks we waited and waited for our bill to arrive. To our great displeasure our bill was $79.13 for 5 people. Which brings me to my greatest complaint, the over pricing of everything and the automatic gratuity. Everything on this menu is $10 dollars and above, the drinks are over priced for fountain drinks, and the $11 I had to pay for gratuity was laughable. We never received any refills for our drinks, the food was horrible, the whole place is overrated.
The reason I gave Joe's Gizzard City a 1 star review was due to it not allowing me to put zero stars. I will never go to eat here again and I will never advise anyone to eat here. Unless you like over priced food and horribly...
Read moreI came here with my wife and a few local friends for some drinks and dinner. My wife and I are from Miami, Fl, and in Fl you are allowed to step out with your drink and smoke or get some air at a bar/restaurant. My wife had left her phone on the table inside, so I walk back in with my beer that I purchased there and the waitress (Julia) became upset and told me I wasn't allowed to bring outside drinks inside. I explained that I purchased the drink at their establishment and I was just grabbing something from the table. The waitress (Julia) then became irate, telling me I wasn't allowed to take my drink outside. I apologized and explained that I didn't know I couldn't walk outside with my drink and I proceeded to finish it inside before I went back out. The waitress just snapped and told me she was going to call the police.. which of course, caused our party to proceed to pay the bill and we left. I didn't really understand what I had done wrong. A simple explanation in a mellow tone by the staff would have sufficed to resolve this issue instead of screaming in my face and threatening me. The interactions I had were unprofessional and classless. The food was alright but it's hard to enjoy your food when this is the type of service you receive.... I don't recommend this restaurant unless they teach their waitresses how to...

Stoped in after a trip to the Vermontville Maple Festival and was very pleased with everything.
Excellent wait staff and attention to detail. After sitting down, drinks were on the table in no time. Sundays, are Bloody Mary days and there concoction was spot on.
Excellent Food — Ordered cheesy breadsticks and the 2 piece chicken dinner with gizzards. The breadsticks were amazingly fresh and with the marinara sauce perfect. As for the chicken, the batter was not as crunchy as were used, but was silky smooth and enjoyable. The accompanying gizzards were more then perfect and that batter was divine. A little cocktail sauce (yes cocktail - horseradish kick), sprinkle of salt and a few dashes of Tabasco made them the best since what Famous Recipe used to serve (Kalamazoo/Regent in Lansing).
Excellent atmosphere. During our dine in, the owner stopped at our table and shared a bit about the restaurant and an upcoming Guy Ferrari showcase to air in May.
Overall experience was what we were hoping for and if you’re considering stopping by, do so. You won’t be...
