Unfortunately we were regulars but no longer wasting the money after some new hospital bills...
Long work days and desiring some Mediterranean food led us here, the first and third time we had really good food. We always order to go. The salad was definitely soggy but we figured out they allow you to side it (idk why they have an option to combine it at all!)
The meat quality varies like crazy. It's either really good, not the best by any means but like an "8" about 1/4 the time and pretty awful most the time we've discovered. We just took a long time to stop taking the chance, it's not super easy to find this kind of food in the to go fashion.
Last time I got the salmon, super burnt and to my dismay about halfway through I swallowed a bone. Looked at the salmon and it was FULL of bones! Like someone just got lazy and gave up half way though. At the Poway location. I know it's tedious to remove them but that's literally part of the job. That's why we pay a premium for this food!!!!
We longed for the limited times when they actually have someone there that knows how to cook and isn't negligent...they also have got our order wrong about three times in the past year (we have eaten from Luna Grill more than most I'd wager, usually this location). They had times they would just run out of things and not tell us and we got the surprise of not having the food we ordered.
They have limited options for customizing IMO beyond the salad, which is worth a star. It's wasteful. We wanted what they use as salad toppings willing to pay for that. They force you to buy the full salad so the rest is wasted and it costs more than it should.
I'd like to say we will go back eventually but I'm very upset after the fish bone ordeal. I tried not to worry about it but I was in the hospital for my gut getting torn up. Thankfully I was very VERY lucky and didn't get an infection and I'm...
Read moreThe food is very good, eastern Mediterranean flavors with plenty of great options. The dishes have great balance and are truly as they are supposed to taste, there is no spoilers from chasing trends, kale, quinoa, ancient grains, etc, nothing inappropriate to the dish is randomly added just to appear trendy. This chain doesn't even toss raw onions, dices tomatoes, and lime into any dish to mexicanize it like most other San Diego restaurants. What you taste is truly what the dish was meant to be. The environment is more fast food style and not much done for noise abatement, but service is fast and food is great so it's easy to overlook these issues. This is a preferred restaurant chain for me. Be sure to try out their interesting sauce choices, and yes, the salmon was tender, not raw...
Read moreDuring the last week I was in the area and stopped by the Luna Grill for the first time for takeout dinner. The menu was easy to choose from and the cashier helping me was very pleasant. I ordered a falafel wrap with sweet potato fries: the wrap was a disappointment. It consisted of lavash bread with about 3 dry and tasteless falafel balls along with diced tomatos, onions and lettuce. If there was a sauce in it I didn't taste it. I felt as if I was eating bread and dry grain balls - there was nothing at all to it. I also ordered a chicken kabob plate and a chicken kabob & gyros plate for my husband and son. They thought the meals were fine but not enough for the money and not as good as a local Greek restaurant. Glad that we tried the food out but sure won't be...
