Planet Sub — Restaurant in Prairie Village

My mind is blown. I've loved PSub for a long time and I never knew it could be THIS good. It began with the service and ended with the food, perfect scores at every turn. As I indulged in that final bite of my sandwich, with teary eyes I blubbered a compulsory "Why is this so good???" Let me break it down for you in a bulleted list, because that's the kind of guy I am:

Jimmy John's-like speed following service of unprecedented friendliness. Seriously, I've NEVER gotten a Planet Sub in my hands that quickly after ordering. Had to have been less than 5 minutes. I intended to sit and watch a 2.5-minute video to pass the time after filling my water cup and the server passed my sandwich off to me before I could tap the video icon. The freshness of the bread. I have never had Planet Sub bread this SOFT, this AROMATIC, flavorful, and inviting. The bread was an experience all its own... And it was nice and toasty! I am accustomed to PSub bread generally having an abrasive, slightly crunchy exterior which can scrape up the inside of your mouth a bit if you eat too much or too carelessly. This unpreferred quality was nowhere to be found in my sandwich tonight. The cheese was melty. The meat was plentiful but still of proper proportions to the toppings, all very flavorful and seemed to have been well-kept.

Kudos to you, team at the Mission Rd. Planet Sub. I am currently stingy with money in preparation of a move in February, but I will be back in due time. Thank you for this amazing...

I've been coming to Planet Sub for years, and I'll never visit this location again. I should've taken it as a sign that the woman in front of me asked for a refund.

I was naive and decided to pick up my online order and take it home. I got home and became concerned as soon as I saw that my order wasn't marked. My Planet Sub orders always come marked. Both subs were wrong, so I tried to call the store at 7:30 (when the store closes at 9). No one answered, so I drove back to the store to get my order fixed.

I arrived at 7:45 pm, and the doors were locked. I could see someone sweeping BOH, and I tried knocking on every door to get someone to answer. When I went back to the side door, the person sweeping wasn't visible anymore.

I just wanted new food with what I ordered, but now I'll have to hope to get a refund and find somewhere else to eat tonight.

Edit: I went back the next night with my food, and I was told I'd have to come back the next day when a manager was there. On Day 3, I talked to a manager who gave me a refund, and he expressed concern that the store had been shut down early the night my order got messed up. I hadn't been to Planet Sub in quite some time, but I dropped by the 94th and Mission location with my brother who was in from out of town. We both attended KU in the 80s, so we go back to the original Yellow Sub days. My brother ordered a Veggie and I ordered the Mega Roast Beef. He was happy with his and I thought mine was really good. The bread was warm and had an almost-crispy texture, but probably the best part was the balance of the ingredients. Even if the name is Mega Roast Beef, I don't want a sandwich that is nothing but meat. Nor do I want a bucket of bbq sauce or an overly thick layer of cheese or a ton of salty bacon.
