I visited this establishment on 8/29/20. The service was fine, and the waiter was friendly. The selection was very limited, though I'm willing to concede that this is to be expected in the current climate of the world, however the lack of hibachi was a real let down, as this is my favorite thing. The issue I have arose when the check arrived. The bill was for two dinner buffets for my wife and myself, when it arrived the bill was about 29$. This didn't make sense to me since the buffet was advertised at 11.24$ per person, drink included. Even after taxes this shouldn't be nearly 30$. Upon inspection I realized that there had been a 18% tip added to not only my check, but also the check of the couple sharing a table with me. I had not approved this, nor had they. I intended to tip the server anyway, but took exception to it being forced upon me. I assumed it must have been a mistake. I went to pay the check and voiced this to the cashier to be told "We're doing that right now." I inquired as to why and my answer was "Well we're not making a lot right now". It seems that since business is slow they've decided to add a manditory 18% grituity to every check. When I got upset she told me that it was posted and pointed to a 8x10 piece of paper where it was written on an asterisk at the bottom. This is deceitful and frankly just wrong. This defeats the whole purpose of a tip. This business has lost my patronage for life and I hope that this advises people of the shady practices they're engaging in. If business is slow then raise the price of your buffet, don't try to sneak a tip onto each person's bill hoping they wouldn't notice.

When you describe restaurants you need to compare them to similar dining experiences in the region. It is not fair to compare a Chinese restaurant in the Kentucky with Chinese restaurants in San Francisco’s Chinatown. When compared to other restaurants in Kentucky, Peking is an exceptionally good buffet. It offers most of the dishes you expect to find. What makes it stand out is that almost every item is better prepared than you might expect. On two visits the Mandarin Chicken was tender and tasty. The spring and egg rolls crisp and fresh. The quality of most items exceeded the typical buffet. The atmosphere adds to an enjoyable meal. Like the sister Peking restaurant in Pikeville, it is well decorated and clean. Both are excellent stops for travelers wanting something different.

Less than honest folks and less than great food. Let's get right to it. When we were checking out for our 2 adult buffets the hostess rang us out and asked if we wanted to leave a tip, of course the answer was yes. We were handed our receipt to which the hostess automatically had applied a 20% tip. While this type of gratuity is customary practice for large groups it is not for 2 people eating at a buffet. So on the $30.00 bill was a $6.00 tip. The food: looked okay, tasted bland. Not a lot of variety; there were more "western" foods then there were Chinese. The salad bar looked wilty and the General Tso's chicken was so tough it pulled a knife on me and demanded my wallet. I guess that's what you get for having dinner at a stripmall buffet.

I enjoy this place very much, I am originally from Indiana, and I love Chinese food, so, since moving here to Eastern Kentucky, I have always have a terrific experience with Peking, it became a favorite very quickly, I have ate at the other locations in Pikeville and in Paintsville....usually the one in Prestonsburg is great too, but tonight, our cashier who seated us was a bit bitter, not sure what her problem was...she wasn't mean, but she literally had to force herself to be nice, didn't quite appreciate it, there were two of us, and he didn't quite appreciate it either, as for the food, most of it was delicious as usual, but the fried rice was a bit dried out and the General Tso's Chicken was not very fresh, it was like nobody wanted to bring out fresh food, which is not a very good thing in customer service, it was around 6 p.k. when we came in to eat, the restaurant closes at 9 p.m. Everything else was great as usual, just don't be on such a hurry about pushing customers out if they come in 3 hours before closing, otherwise I enjoy your restaurant, this was over in Prestonsburg....I do recommend this location and all of the...

I love Chinese food, and I don’t mean to offend anyone, but that was by far the worst food I have ever eaten in my life. Everything was cold, bland, and tasteless. I ate a bit of everything; even the sweet and sour chicken was terrible. The staff was short, rude, and stopped by our table maybe three times the entire time we were there. Then, I legit felt like crying as our bill for two meals was over $30. It was $16.95 per person I think, and we had gone on a Friday afternoon around 5:30. I really hope the owners/chefs see this and make some changes. I am stepping into business ownership here soon as well, and I know how hard things can be. But service wasn’t there, the food wasn’t even warm, and it seemed like everyone hated their jobs. I wish the best for this place, but as for me, I’d rather skip dinner then to have to...
