My first impression of Irish Times is that it is an Irish Hooters; all of the waitstaff is young females in tight or very short black clothing. However, that is where the parallel ends. It certainly takes the Irish pub image seriously. The atmosphere is dark, cozy vibe with exposed brick or wood paneling, and plenty of Irish-themed nick-nacks adorning the walls. If you lived nearby, this would be a favorite cozy bar. There is also a private beer garden that will sit around 50 people. The garden is well established with trees, a couple of brick walls dividing up the place. Each table had an umbrella for additional shade. We started our meal with Crispy Brussel Sprouts (with curry aioli) - these are listed as a side rather than an appetizer but made a delicious savory and healthier starter over the carb heavy options under appetizers. For our main courses, we had a Smash Burger that had those wonderful, crispy edges. The Blues Bro's Burger (bacon, blue cheese, and onion rings -what is not to love), also shout-out for using real blue cheese and not blue cheese dressing. Fish & Chips was lightly batter dipped and had a light crunch. It was a bit on the greasy side like fish & chips should be. The Shepherd's Pie came in a large bowl to contain the gravy, my husband is a Shepherd Pie lover and has had it all over, he said he really enjoyed their take on the dish and would come back for this alone. There is so much on this menu I want to come back to try, e.g., Corned Beef tacos, Irish BLT, Chicken Curry, irvthe chicken pot pie. We did stumble upon a gift card deal at Costco - two $50 ($100 in total) gift cards for $75. It is a 25% sale to try the pub. The pub is across the tracks from one of Brookfield's best business districts with plenty of shops and restaurants.

Went to Brookfield zoo and was searching local restaurants nearby that was kid friendly. We were a party of 6 (2 kids included). My friend and I saw Irish times on google. When we saw their patio, and that the distance was not far at all, we immediately decided to check it out and we are sooo happy we did! There is ample amount of parking. They have parking in front, to the side of the building (a little tight), or even just near the restaurant for a quick small walk if absolutely no parking. We came on a Tuesday late afternoon. When we walked in, we were greeted by one of the bartenders who told us to choose where we would like to seat. They have tons seating options! Low tables, booths, the bar and outside dining. Plenty of room, even with my double stroller. The lighting is dim, but it's a pub, so it is what you expect. It feels like a local pub and all the staff was friendly. IF YOU CHECK IN ON YELP, YOU RECEIVE A COMPLIMENTARY CHINA SHOT. Of course, anytime I go anywhere I check in on yelp. This was exciting to see, so all 4 of us checked in to redeem this offer. We were not sure what was a china shot, but it was fun to be adventurous and it turned out delicious. Great menu options, even for the kids. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh. Irish times is a must if you are in the area. It's a nice Irish pub with great food and large selection of drinks! Also, great beer selection on tap.

CHECK YOUR BILL!! They charge for ice. They charge for using a credit card. If you order a martini, they charge for the martini, plus add on the vodka charge, so the martinis end up being twice the price, even though they come in small glasses that look like toasting champagne glasses. If you order two espresso martinis, they charge for three. They don't charge the prices that are listed in the menu. I have never been to a place that adds charges for everything. Be careful and check your bill! Even after the adjustment, I don't know if I was charged correctly. I won't go back, even though the food, drinks, and service were good, and it's right near the Metra stop. I'm surprised they operate like this. I've never encountered this in Chicago. Reminds me of a tourist trap, but it's in the burbs. Wow.

Went here with my father due to hearing they had the best fish fry in town (All you can eat). Once you enter you get transported to another world of a cozy Irish bar with weird decor you find in your grandparents house. The reason for the two star review starts with customer service when we entered we were greeted by a staff member who was cleaning tables but went back to cleaning tables. So we stand there until she realized we were waiting to be seated and said "oh seat anywhere you like." Again I'm not nit picking this but least come up to us and say welcome in/seat anywhere you like. So we find a table near the bar and already I want to leave due to the fact the music was extremely loud in order to talk you have to come close to shouting. Then there were a group of old timers cussing and talking loud near the bar so that was a treat to listen to. After waiting close to 15-20 minutes the server we had was also the bartender even though I seen 5 servers walking around aimlessly looking lost or bored. We ordered our drinks (1 beer and a soda) me and my father are not drinkers mind you so I can see why we were not given much attention than the usual bar patrons. Another 20-25 minutes pass and our server asks if we need anything we ordered fried pickles while still looking at the menu. After about 10 minutes a different server brings us our pickles so we waited 25 minutes until our actual server comes by asking what we'll have I ordered a burger (not much of a fish guy) and my father orders the fish/chips. Half a hour passes with barely anyone in the bar our food arrives. The moment of truth is when me and my father tried a piece of the fish to reveal it is nothing truly nothing the breading is crispy/golden with no seasoning at all and the fish had no seasoning either. Also the fish was barely existence meaning the piece seem very small not like other places I tried where you bite into fried fish and get a sizeable chuck of fish (Possibly the quality or size of fish wasn't good?) Anyways I tried my classic burger it was alright nothing to write home or recommend this place to others. The only saving grace was the side of fries and beer. Overall I get it this place is that corner bar that's been in the neighborhood forever and you take care of your regulars cause that's were your tips are from. But to new comers or people trying out your fish fry due to recommendations to come try it truly was disappointed. We will not be returning or making recommendations when asked about this place. Last thing I find funny when we were about to leave I seen a couple come in and a server came up to them/greeted them and proceeded to seat them I believe in the outside patio. Also our server seemed annoyed checking up on us all the while she and other servers would lean on the end of the bar talking with the usual patrons who visit this bar. Give this place a shot by all means just...

Almost a 2 star, by the way. The pub is quaint and very visually appealing inside and out, giving the local area some needed culture, and the food isn’t the worst food I’ve ever had. But that’s the end of the compliments I can give them. The food is VASTLY overpriced for what it is.

If you’ve ever had real Irish food, or even decent Americanized Irish food, you will be sorely disappointed with this place. Ever had Shepards pie with corn in it (and no carrots) and boxed mashed potatoes? Ever have Campbell’s tomato soup from a can made with real cream? Yeah no joke, everything here is made from Walmart brand boxed and canned goods.

My wife and I got shepards pie, tomato soup, a side of potato salad, a side of bangers, poutine, garlic cheese fries, and the corned beef and cabbage plate. The fries were all decent (it’s hard to mess up French fries), though the poutine definitely didn’t have cheese curds in it, making it technically not poutine, the bangers were real bangers, the corned beef was decent, and…that’s it. Everything else came from a box or a can. The gravy, the soup, the mashed potatoes, most of the vegetables, it all came from stuff you could get from your local store, and made just as haphazardly. That food listed plus three drinks was 100 bucks. I’ve never in my life not finished soup, but this soup tasted remarkably like the sauce in chef boyRD. It was more like creamy ketchup than anything else. The gravy tasted good but was of minimal quality, again having come clearly from a package, the potato salad tasted like nothing…I don’t know. I’m torn on this one. Like I said it’s not the worst food I’ve ever eaten. But I certainly wish I hadn’t eaten here. Overrated, overpriced, half of it decent, half of it totally inedible.

Also we went here for saint paddy’s day and they didn’t care two figs about covid standards, or local fire safety standards for that matter. It was like a mosh pit in there. So on top of all the gross and overpriced food, it was an unpleasant...

My wife and I stopped by for lunch on 06-03-2024. We had our 1 year old with us. The restaurant didn’t appear busy and there was ample seating available. We initially sat inside and our order was taken.

I ordered the Irish Burger. My wife ordered the Shrimp Po Boy. We also ordered a calamari appetizer.

I asked the waiter if it would be okay to be seated outside in the patio instead. The weather was nice and our little one was becoming restless. They were accommodating and said yes.

We moved to the outside patio and picked the furthest tables available. The outside patio was well covered and the decorations helped us distract our little one while we waited for the food.

The food arrived all at the same time. The burger was nothing spectacular. It was a pretty standard pub burger. It was kind of dry and definitely needed a sauce.

The Shrimp Po Boy was good. The sandwich came with a decent amount of breaded shrimp. The breaded shrimp was well battered and not greasy at all. Flavor overall was good. The sandwich came with some Remoulade sauce, which was a good component, but we felt that it did not have enough. Easy fix would have been to ask for some more on the side.

The calamari appetizer was good. Again, the breading was not greasy.

Our issue with the experience was the service provided. Our waiter came out once when he dropped off the food. He never returned to check on us or replenish drinks.

We finished our meal and waited around for a few but the waiter never came back out. We walked into the business and paid for our meal at the bar.

Waiter appeared to realize his mistake and apologized.

Overall our experience was a bit disappointing. We were excited to try a local establishment since we recently moved into the area. I understand mistakes are made and based on the previous reviews it looks like this is not...
