There was an extremely negative experience of "staying" at this hotel. Perhaps I would have passed by and would not have written this review if it hadn't been for their lies. This disappointed me extremely. When we booked, the hotel contacted us and wrote that if there are available rooms, they can check us in earlier. Great. We arrived in Chicago around 9 a.m., I texted the hotel, but they didn't answer anything. We went for a walk to the center. It started to rain heavily and it didn't work out. Around 1 p.m., we decided to slowly move towards the hotel. Check-in is standard at 3 o'clock. While waiting for the train, while we went to a cafe to eat, we walked to the hotel to stretch the time. we came to him about 10 minutes before the standard check-in. There was a woman at the reception who silently took our documents and gave us the keys. OK. The room turned out to be on 1 of 2 possible floors, but in a turn, so the windows were in a dark passage. My husband was supposed to have a birthday in a couple of days and it darkened the mood. I went to the reception and asked for a bright room on the 2nd floor and told them about my birthday. She left without a word, then went in and gave me the keys to the room on the second floor. By that time it was already more than 3 hours (official check-in). We went to the second floor. We were satisfied with the room, but there was a terrible stench, as I am not a professional, I thought it was from the carpet, which was cleaned with chemicals. It was creepy. We opened the door and just stood there waiting for the smell to wear off. About 5 minutes. It didn't help. Then we closed the door and turned on the air conditioner, hoping that it would help. About 5 minutes. Unsuccessfully. It was the smell of marijuana, of course, I wouldn't have weathered it in 5 minutes or 10. When booking, I had the option of a free cancellation before 4 o'clock. I went to the reception, said that we couldn't stay here, that we wanted to cancel the reservation. The woman was extremely unhappy, but said that in this case she would charge for the first night, since we had already checked into the room, I once again said about the free cancellation and that we did not use anything in the room, only aired it. She refused, in which case we decided to leave the next morning, and in the meantime look for a place to move. We returned to the room. The time is 3:20. We understand that this smell will not allow us to sleep here. I'm calling in Booking.com I was on the line for 25 minutes waiting for the operator, but still had 15 minutes left to cancel. All this time we were sitting on the bed just waiting on the line. With Booking.com we have resolved the issue of canceling and booking another hotel. Thank them for their service, they are for the customers! I went to the reception and told them about the eviction and that I already had a cancellation letter. This woman pretended that we did not exist, was minding her own business when the Americans came in, it was "nice" to see her different attitude towards them and us. But I don't care. We left. Then I received a refund from the hotel minus the first night on the card. When we sorted it out through Booking, she said that literally "she gave us the honor of an early check-in," which stunned me, because it did not happen. Or has 2:55 instead of 3:00 already become an early check-in? And that we used a shower and towels. But that was an absolute lie!!! The main thing is, why do this? to resist and not return the money for the first night? It's not worth it! Honestly, I was completely shocked by such a "service". Just for no reason, even if you have nowhere to move in, do not go...
Read moreCame here with my friends for Lollapalooza (this was the only decent place to stay within a decent distance of the festival venue that wasn't $400 a night) and stayed for a week. Check in and check out was easy. I booked this inn months and months in advance online paying a VERY very good price. There are a decent number of places to eat within walking distance (Burger King, Wendys, mexican place, diners, etc) as well as closeby gas stations and pharmacies. Now onto why this review has such poor rating....
My two friends and I are originally from Toronto, Canada. We didn't expect this inn to be the Hilton or the Four Seasons but we could not believe all the things that went wrong from the fault of this inn. The first thing noticeable when we entered the room was the horrid scent of mildew everywhere. Dead flies on the windowsill, and many flies flying around the room. The floors clearly have not been cleaned or even vacuumed in a VERY long time. Bathroom is tiny, shower also showed signs that it has not been cleaned. When we took showers, the floor of the bathroom would immediately be soaked in water since there was no bearing to hold the water from spilling all over the floor - who designed this room?? Towels were all very small. Beds were shaky. The a/c would either be way too cold or way too hot (not that important cause I'm just glad the a/c was working but it was a big problem for my friends). Wifi was never stable. There was this one guy working who usually worked nights and would never seem pleased to be helping us. I'm sorry that this may not be the ideal place to work but it shouldn't be an issue for you to get off the chair, pause your episode of Archer, and hand us towels that are two steps away from you.
LONG story short -- the inn somehow magically managed to overcharge my friends and I a total amount of around $900 extra. For no reason. AFTER we all paid for the room (before we even got the keys to the room). We brought this up to the girl working a few days into our trip and she was very rude about it. This isn't an extra $5 charge - this is almost a $1000 overcharge. This is our money for food and transportation while we are far away from home. She said she can't do anything about it and we have to wait for the refund to come back to us (which could be almost 2 weeks). She didn't know why it happened and said the guy we paid on our first day "maybe entered the wrong information". Why were we charged a combine total that was almost 3 times more expensive than what we even paid the inn for??? There was no apology from her, she said "we are welcome to stay at a different hotel if we wanted to leave." Unbelievable and very unprofessional customer service from everyone who works in the office. We spoke with the manager on the phone who was very nice but said she wouldn't be able to do anything. I brought up the idea of compensation due to the large amount of money that was stolen from our accounts - she seemed like she didn't want to compensate by any means and said "she'll have to see" but it never happened.
Aside from our disgusting room, key cards that always had issues and horrible customer service, the only thing good about this inn were the housekeepers. The ladies were very very nice and free breakfast until a certain time was nice too.
I would NOT recommend this place to anyone at all if you care about the money in your bank, and if you don't want to sleep in a room that looks + smells like it hasn't been cleaned in...
Read moreLiterally the worst motel I've ever stayed at, and I like a good cheap roadside motel here and there. I checked in at 8AM since I was exhausted, to get some shuteye before driving back to Milwaukee. I should've checked the reviews.
When I entered the office the employee seemed entirely surprised that I came in "off the street" without a reservation. He said they had 2 rooms available, one is hourly and the other is for the day/night. How was he surprised at someone coming in without a reservation when they offer hourly rates? Hourly rates should've been the first red flag.
The room was small but ok for the price and last minute booking. Cigarette burns on the comforter, no air conditioning available, with the heater on blast which I turned off immediately. Only 1 small and 1 regular towel, one bar of soap at the sink. Shampoo but no conditioner. The toilet filled itself with water every 5 minutes for no apparent reason, seems they have plumbing problems. But who cares, I'm there to get some sleep.
Within 30 minutes of getting to the room (around 9AM) there's a couple in the room above me having insanely loud sex. I'm talking screaming and headboard banging, for upwards of 30 minutes. They then proceeded to bang around the room and talk loudly for another few hours. Then, about 3 different times, an SUV parked directly in front of my room decided it was time to demonstrate its insane sound system. My room vibrated and creaked from the noise level. Are you kidding me?
Finally, the maids, who have insanely loud carts because they're plastic wheels on concrete, burst into my room because they had not been informed that the room was booked.
Between all of this, I only managed about 3 hours of sleep. Avoid this place at all costs unless you're either shooting a seedy porno or want to hang out around the shady...
