I don't know if I'm more angry or disappointed. I lived 20 years in Texas, and Whataburger was my staple. 24/7 you could count on Whataburger for the best fast food burger around. Been living in Denver 13 years and to this day when asked who makes the best burger I still say Whataburger. I drive truck out of Denver and had to run up to Cheyenne to pick up a last minute load and rush it to Pueblo during rush hour nonsense. I didn't eat breakfast and there was no time for lunch, so by the time I pulled into the Lowes parking lot I was ravenous!
Shining like a beacon from heaven, low and behold, was a Whataburger in the lot. After making delivery I left my semi idling (to keep my dog cool in 96° BS) and ran my fat butt across the parking lot for a God sent meal. I ordered 2 burgers and 2 apple pies, and stood there salivating and waiting.
The employees seemed to move like molasses, with no urgency or care. From behind the soda machine an employee could loudly be heard griping about having to make tea. He used the F word so many times even a trucker would blush. There was a mother with 2 children sitting within earshot of this onslaught of vulgarity (she was a doordash driver also waiting.) The manager counted a cash drawer and then went to the back and disappeared. After 20 minutes I started to realize other were standing around waiting. The Door Dash driver said she had been waiting for an order for over 30 minutes. A man at another table was fuming and looking at his watch. I asked the girl who took my order and she said she'd check, but never returned with an answer.
After over 30 minutes, my lunch break was officially over. I asked for a refund and the manager lady finally appeared from the back. She processed my refund without so much as an apology. She then said "let me go see what's with your food." I told her forget it, my lunch break was over and I had already spent more money in diesel idling outside than my meal cost.
I left crushed, sad, and hungry. I drove the 3 hours back home without eating anything, dreaming of the bubbly flaky goodness that only a Whataburger apple pie can achieve. I thought my 13 years of longing were finally going to be appeased with what was thought only possible in dreams, or Texass. Instead I was foiled, teased, and dejected. Who knows when I will find the opportunity to return to an area blessed with the presence of a Whataburger again. But I assure you if it happens to be this one, I'll just do without. Their staff is crass, lazy, and without any work ethic. Their management is void of skills and leadership, and it shows in her staffs complete disregard for their customers and their experience. Whataburger has lost some of its magic and luster on this day. Based on the experience provided to several customers and myself while I had the misfortune to stand around for what feels like an eternity when famished, that may be 'Just How...
Read moreMy husband and I never been to Whataburger and were excited to try it out for the first time. All we would hear is how wonderful it was. My honest opinion is that YES I know this is a new restaurant and there are new people working and some never worked before, but isn't that why there is training before it opens? I honestly can say the fries were horrible and the wait time was horrible then on top of it the cleanliness was horrible. There were several people that ordered AFTER us and were served BEFORE us (That was annoying). I ordered the buffalo chicken with fries and a banana pudding shake, my husband ordered the chicken sandwich meal with a banana pudding shake. They served our shakes before we got the food which was fast, but by the time we got our order we drank some of our shake (made us full). When we got the food the person that served us was really nice, but we went home and come to find out they forgot my fries and the fries we did get were cold and there was no filling in the fries (hollow) and tasted frost bit. I tried calling them to make things right and there was absolutely NO ANSWER!! I get it if you're busy but if you are going to start a business please make sure on the first month or two (at least) have someone specifically answer the phone so they can see what needs to be done to better themselves or what they did right (not every call is a complaint some are compliments). I am not a fan of Whataburger and it should be called Whataboutfries. My chicken was cold and my husband's chicken sandwich wasn't that impressive at all. We will not return anytime soon. The excitement of trying something new became a awful experience. Sorry but not sorry things...
