As many others have noted here, the service is painfully slow. Our check was opened at 9:14pm after waiting for quite some time for service - we had already had time to review the menu and decide what we wanted prior to anyone showing up. The kids' food showed up within 15-20 minutes, the last of the acceptable service. After their food, my wife soon finished her drink, then sat with it empty for at least 20 minutes. I finally flagged someone down and asked that her drink be refilled. Then, after waiting another 10-15 minutes, now nearly an hour since ordering our food, I asked what was going on and requested that the automatic 16% gratuity be removed from my check. They had to call a manager in and he insulted me by asking if I would like dessert to compensate for the time, then asked if I would accept 25% off of my check, mucb less than the total for the 3 items that we hadn't seen until I started escalating the issue. I said that I would address the issue with the front desk and we took our food and left with only the gratuity removed. When we got back, we found the flatbread pizza to be burnt and lacking any flavor otherwise, and the mac n cheese bites and wings were overly salty. When you stay at a "5-star" resort, you expect a certain level of service. The Sand Trap falls way short and needs a major overhaul to satisfy these expectation.
The only good thing that I can say about this location is that they have virtual TopGolf bays and pool tables. This is why the atmosphere got 3 stars, but this does not compensate for our otherwise terrible experience, especially since we didn't use...
Read moreThe Sand Trap Bar & Grill was a great find when we arrived at the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve in the early evening and found all the main restaurants fully booked. It was nice to have an on-site option where we could grab food and drinks without a reservation. When we arrived, one of the pool tables was open, so we snagged it and played a few games while waiting for our food, which made for a fun and relaxed start to the trip. The menu is standard grill fare, but the quality was solid, and the whole family was happy with their meals. Service was decent—nothing exceptional but nothing to complain about either. Overall, a good casual option...
Read moreSo the real stand out for this place is the cocktail menu. There are several great selections and I enjoyed mine quite a bit hence the 4 stars. That said the food is nothing to write home about and it's overpriced but you're at a resort so that typically means food prices will be inflated. My bartender Alanys was great and i give her 5 stars she does a great job with the cocktails so I'll be back for a pre meal cocktail for sure but then likely to somewhere...
