Went here with my pops recently. It's been more than a decade since I've eaten here. So long that I honestly cant remember the taste, but when I had my burrito, it was like a fond memory. It was so good and I dont think anywhere I've ever been is close to the same flavor. The salsas, though too mild for my taste, were spot on in flavor. In there defense, I didnt ask for hitter salsas and I bet they have them. Additionally, my burrito came with a roasted serrano, so that might beenough, for many people.,
And with ALL of the renovations they have made to the building, this place is truly a diamond in the rough, in that neighborhood(my childhood neighborhood). I'm so happy that same ownership is present and that they have invested so much into the old place. it's unrecognizable, in a good way. Cant wait till the summer; I'll enjoy eating outside there.
One caveat, though, and it's one that they have no control over. The neighborhood is terrible, and that comes from a guy that used to live out that way. You should eat there, but just be aware.
We had take out, but the gentleman at the register was helpful to my father, reading the menu and simple kindness like that is appreciated.

Read moreMy husband's food came out 15 minutes after the other two dinners came to our table, and they only had one other table. When it FINALLY arrived, they made tacos instead of the flautas that he actually ordered. When we asked for what we actually ordered, the other waitress came charging over to our table tell US off like it was OUR fault that the waitress was incompetent and put in tacos instead of flautas. Then when we explained that he actually ordered flautas, instead of apologizing for THEIR error, the rude waitress just stomped off with the food. Then we had to wait again for my husband to get the correct order. The worst part is that she blamed it on ME because I apparently "confused them" when I said I didn't want rice and beans with MY tacos (according to the waitress). The waitress that got our order wrong was at least polite. The other waitress was rude and seemed bothered by the fact that she had to stop filing her nails to help figure out what happened. The food was actually good, but the terrible...
Read moreBeen to original Taqueria Gran Morelos and food was good. Usually ordered take out and was a favorite place. Stopped in to order take out at new building. Food was not as I have had in the other building. Had lots of water from the toppings and made tostadas wet and soggy. Salsa was off also. 15% gratuity automatically added to bill. Is this also on take out? Don't know because they don't give you a receipt anymore. No restaurant should automatically add a gratuity. I thought that was actually a law. I don't mind tipping but not necessarily for a to go order and not FORCED GRATUITY. P.S. looked up the laws on gratuity and a restaurant can add a gratuity for LARGE PARTIES. In some states it is 6 or more people while others it is 8 or more people that is the definition of...
