My husband and I go here at least once a month. As a matter of fact, we're going tomorrow for our anniversary. He loves the lengua tacos and I usually get the ground beef taco dinner. Their pazole is fantastic. I love everything about this place. It's authentic mexican food. Friendly staff and great service. I loved everything I've tried there and the prices are very reasonable too. Plus you get a lot of food for the price. The restaurant has also been newly remodeled so everything looks new and clean. Plus they have an upper level so they can accommodate large groups. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who loves authentic mexican food.
Update: 10-18-19 I'm downgrading my 5 star rating to a 2. And the only thing saving this restaurant from a 1 star rating is the food is actually pretty good. My downgrade is mainly because of customer service. When they first reopened, they were very accommodating to orders with specific requests. They'd make sure you got everything you ordered exactly the way you wanted it and never had a problem with giving us enough sauces or limes for our order. But over the last 6 months, a lot of the employees have gotten stingy with the sauces, charging way too much for a 2oz cup of verde sauce. Some employees told us the new policy restricted the amount of sauce cups you get to 2 cups per dinner. Other employees told us a different story but it's never been consistent. Due to the all these inconsistencies, we can only assume that the employees make up the rules as they go! There were times when we did NOT have to pay for extra verde sauce, and were greeted by the employee serving us with care and a smile. There were other times (MANY) where the employee supplying the sauces showed great distain towards us, forcing us to pay unfair prices for the extra sauces with an attitude that gave the impression of being annoyed by our request. They've also been getting worse at making sure our order was correct. We've gotten food delivered that was missing items or did not have enough sauces. The situation with supplying enough sauces per order had gotten so bad in the past few months, that my husband and I felt like we were being shamed for asking for any more than the 1 or 2 they give you for an entire dinner. My husband usually uses about 1 2oz cup of verde sauce per lengua taco (yes, really), so you can imagine his disappointment when our food was delivered and we only got 2 or 3 sauces for a $45 order which included my 4 beef taco dinner and his 4 lengua taco dinner plus an extra 4 lengua tacos. This was AFTER they took the order and then confirmed that there would be 8 sauces. They've also messed stuff up when we dine in and when we complained about it, they made us feel like we were not welcome and that it was an inconvenience for them to fix it. This used to be our favorite spot for good authentic Mexican food with great service but they have messed up our order not just once, but more and more each time we ordered. And the mistakes were not just limited to not enough sauces. They also started messing up what we wanted on our tacos and the sides that We wanted with them. It's no longer worth it to spend good money on bad service. We won't be giving Mi Jacalito any more of...
Read moreMy father and I ordered from here earlier today.
(I will preface this review by saying my father and I are the type of people that deal with whatever is put in front of us. With food and in life. I’m tired of spending a decent amount of money on food and it being mediocre or less than.)
My father ordered three beef tacos and a steak meal. He was disappointed by the steak and by the look of it, I don’t blame him. The tacos were even worse. The hard shell they came with was such a joke that they provided soft shells on the side. My dad and I quote him saying, “I can make better tacos than this.” Which I can attest to.
I ordered nachos and rice. The nachos were disappointing to such a degree I would have rather ate air by its lonesome. It was pretty much a salad with some meat, some sour cream, some tomato and some chips. The chips seemed to be stale as well.
I don’t normally review places let alone give them negative reviews. For the money we spent I would suggest everyone go to any other Mexican restaurant. Sorry Mi Jacalito. We will not be return customers. On to the next one...
