I guess this is what they mean by a "jewel in the city"(?) if that really is a saying of course.
Located inside a small office building on Lancaster Avenue on the Main Line, I wasn't quite sure how I like this place.
The sushi was definitely fresh, but I was disappointed when they didn't have the fresh wasabi root I ordered. That wasabi root was what was going to separate this place from all the rest of the sushi restaurants.
Nevertheless, I am giving this restaurant three stars. The taste was good and maybe even above par compared to other sushi restaurants. However, like any other takeout sushi, some of the rolls were either made too quickly, fell apart and/or seemed whoever made it was genuinely not interested in putting much effort into it.
The sushi, I ordered the nigiri special, was ok. It was much smaller than I hoped, but again, take out sushi.
Overall, I'd say Vic's Sushi is above average compared to most take out sushi places. However, if more effort was put in make the food look good too (and also not run out of wasabi roots), this place can definitely go up against actual sit in restaurants as well...
Read moreI usually never write reviews, but this place is awful. Easily the worst sushi I have ever had. After waiting around 20 minutes for spicy tuna roll and Philadelphia roll, I was presented tiny mishapen rolls of rice and a sliver of tuna. (I know sushi is small, but this was intentional just to be cheap.) They're spicy tuna roll is a bizarre tuna/spicy sauce puree wrapped in rice! If you're going cheap, even Acme has better sushi in every aspect. (And I actually tried Acme afterwards to compare)
This place probably just markets cheap sushi to people who don't know where to get better, and you can literally find better anywhere. Go ahead (and pay a little more,) and try "Samurai" up the street for...
Read moreDelicious sushi at an affordable price sums this place up. I got shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura, gyoza, kani salad, and three rolls. (shrimp tempura, boston, California roll). I added masago to all rolls for an additional charge, crunch, and eel sauce and everything tasted fresh and delicious. The shrimp and sweet potato tempura had a light crunchy batter. The kani salad was good and wasn’t spicy which is what I like. The gyoza was perfectly cooked, and the three sushi rolls were all fresh and the rice to filling ratio was perfect. For the amount of food I got, the pricing would be a lot more in any other Japanese restaurant. I would definitely...
