I came here after visiting the Post Office in Bryn Mawr. The shop is nice and clean - it also has a decent amount of material there. Lots of stuff available for kids.
The rest of the comics appear to be sorted by publisher instead of title or any other theme, so it was a bit confusing when trying to browse.
I gave this three stars from my personal experience with the shop, though. The personnel who worked there wasn't very friendly at all. I went there while suffering post concussion symptoms, so I had my sunglasses on still and I was walking slowly (since I was still getting easily disoriented then).
I was there with my husband, who was supporting me. After we left, he pointed out how the one employee was following us around the store (but never asking us if we needed help, just kind of spying on us).
I tried to start a brief conversation with the same man after he checked us out, and he was relatively dismissive of my comments. It definitely was not a...
Read moreWhen I went into this shop I was expecting comics and games. But what I got instead was comics, and more comics also featuring games. This is very much more a comic shop than it is a game shop. If you have to look at the distribution, I'd say it's a good 50% comics 20% graphics novels and books about comics including collections. And the remaining 30% is split up between table top board games and such with the last 5% being RPG stuff in the back and I mean the far back.
There is however an excellent kid section up front and some game tables in the back. I did not see a table schedule posted anywhere except on their website.
Parking is three spaces in the back or nearby on the street or in metered lots. In the roughly 10 minutes I spent wandering around I was not approached by anyone which is a good or bad thing depending on your preference. And no mention was made of spending club organizations or any other such attempt to sign me up...
Read moreI don't live in the area, but whenever I'm traveling I like to check out local comic shops. They had a great selection of back issues and out of print trades, as well as a good selection of current board games and RPGs. The prices were a bit high, though--all trades are sold at full price, whether or not they're used, current, etc. A lot of things were shelved where they were in direct sunlight, though, so I saw fading on a bunch of items that would bring the value down. The guy behind the counter was indifferent to us at best--didn't greet us when we came in or offer to help us find anything while we were browsing. He was pleasant enough while we were checking out, though. I found some back issues I was missing as well as a rare variant cover for one of the series I collect, and a cool Batman dice game I hadn't seen before. Overall this is a solid shop, and...
