Angus Barn is a Raleigh establishment and is a place to take out of towners or people you are trying to impress. I've been several times over the years and am giving my impressions as well as my dinner mates. The food is all top notch quality (mostly) meat. I really have enjoyed their ribs and shrimp dishes. The sides are really good and they have great desserts. The cheese and homemade crackers they provide each table are delicious. The reason for the 4 stars overall is that over the past few visits, no one has been impressed with their steaks. The meat quality is there but there seems to be a lack of seasoning. We've tried the tomahawk, filet, and ribeye and come to the same conclusions. Not bad mind you, but when you are paying 50-100 per person, I expect some awesome flavor and these were just ok. The service is fantastic and waiters/waitresses are very attentive. The decor on an average night, is like a cross between an old mansion and not shockingly a barn. Wooden chairs, almost picnic like tablecloths, and a more relaxed dress code than you'd typically see at a higher end steakhouse. Its a good place of a business dinner or large group of friends. Note that you will either need a reservation multiple weeks in advance unless you want a super early (~5pm) or super late (~9pm) reservation. Your other alternative is to go to the Wild Turkey Lounge which is the bar area but it is first come first serve. They also have a store where they sell the cheese and other homemade treats that you can take home. The real treat is visiting during Christmas time as these decorations are some of the craziest you'll ever see. The ceilings are covered in decorations and there are tons of lights outside. I attached a few photos. You will have to book as it becomes available (3 months out) if you want a reservation between Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is worth the effort. All in all, this is definitely a great place for a business dinner, group of adult friends, or date. Kids menu is going to run you about 20 bucks for a hot dog, or mac and cheese so me personally would leave them at home if possible as I'm cheap but it is more family friendly that say a Morton's or Ruth Chris. The ambiance and service is top notch but don't expect your steak to be the most amazing you've ever had.

We had an amazing experience at The Angus Barn. I went in a bit apprehensive seeing plenty of reviews online that the food wasn’t great and that you were paying the exorbitant prices really just for the atmosphere, but I’m happy to report that wasn’t our experience. The atmosphere and Christmas decorations of course are what drew me in and did not disappoint. From the moment you approach The Barn, you are stunned with lights throughout the grounds, but inside is even better. We checked in about 20 minutes before our reservation time and then hung out in the bar in front of the entrance. We were texted about 14 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. The drinks while we waited were expertly made and a fantastic addition to the evening. When we were seated, our waitress was extremely attentive, informative, and efficient. Starting the meal out with the cheese and crackers, I didn’t know what the hype was with something so simple, but we quickly realized they absolutely lived up to the hype. The crackers are simple but the cheese is rich and flavorful - just a great table offering! I opted for the wine sampler to start with 3 2oz pours for $18 and really enjoyed that offering. We both got soups as our starters - French onion for me and my husband got the soup of the day which was a broccoli and cream of cheddar - we were both very happy with our choices. For mains, I ordered from the lounge menu despite being in the main dining room and got the steak sandwich with a side of mashed potatoes - it was phenomenal and big enough that I brought half of it home for lunch today! My husband got the filet mignon and it was cooked perfectly, seasoned well, and melted in your mouth. He said it may be the second best steak he’s ever had second to a wagyu we had over the summer. We finished with a piece of the chocolate chess pie and it was also incredible. Everything about our experience has sealed it for us that we will return each year at this time, and maybe even come in the non-Christmas season just for a fun date night! We are new to North Carolina and are slowly finding things that will become tradition, and The Angus Barn is now one of those things for us!

I celebrated my birthday here a couple weeks back. Honestly I had a lot of people said this place was overhyped, I can say this place was amazing, from start to finish. First off the venue is super nice, has a lot to look at while waiting for a table, with the gun room to all the photos of famous people. We had Meagan as our server, she was absolutely amazing, couldn’t ask for a better server. She was patient with us, gave us our space at the table and even toured us around at the very end. Started off with the appetizer sampler, which included: bbq pork ribs (awesome!, a little small though), oysters (I’m just not a fan of them in general), shrimp cocktail (which were fine, nothing special to them, they tasted like they normally would taste like), NC crab cakes (which were insanely good, some of the best I’ve ever had). And then separately from the combo we got the Mac and cheese which was good. In between that I got their French onion soup, which was beautifully made, nothing overly done with it, definitely hits the spot. For the main meal I got the espresso rub filet, which just kind of melts in your mouth, perfectly cooked as medium rare. The string beans were some of the best I’ve ever had, the blue cheese mashed potatoes were just ok though, the blue cheese can sort of be overwhelming. Lastly, to end off the meal perfectly was the sawdust pie, which was incredible also. I also definitely want to give recognition to the bartender who made one of the best drinks I’ve ever had which was the angus barn gold rush. It was so dang good, could have had a pitcher of it. I also got the Higgin’s Royal Punch which was also quite good. Honestly believe the hype of how good this is when people talk positively about it and ignore the ones who say it’s overrated. This place is awesome!

Our first time hitting the Angus Barn and we truly loved it! I’d of given 5 stars if the portions for the shrimp and lobster tail were a little more. Steak was a bit overcooked on the outside. We both got the filet mignon, 6 oz lobster tail, shrimp on skewer, and a baked potato. I thought the lobster tail was a large piece of shrimp and expected it to be larger, but that said, in defense to the AB, they clearly specified it was 6 oz. My fiance’ brought her unfinished steak home to eat for lunch today and it felt like a rock on the exterior. If you drink, DEFINITELY choose the smoked old fashioned. Yes, it’s pricey at $30 bucks but you will not be disappointed!! Mike made it perfectly and the drink was made just right. Many places I hesitate to order a drink because they rarely put enough alcohol in them, but again, this was top shelf!! We each got a salad and it was huge in proportion!! Mine was the caesar salad and it was absolutely delicious!! Service was top notch from the valet parking, to Mike the bartender, and of course Mark- our waiter. I wanted to try the cigar room, but that’s more of a- go with your buddies thing than with your lady….my opinion of course. If you don’t get out often like us and don’t mind opening your wallet, I would say go check it out to feel like royalty. If you’re truly wanting to spend $100 per plate, particularly with a steak, you won’t be 100% satisfied, again my opinion. For the $$ the steak, shrimp, and anything else should feel and taste like liquid gold. I heard during Christmas it’s like a wonderland there. Next year if possible, we will try and get in on Valentine’s Day. They allow you to book 4 months in advance and I HIGHLY recommend doing so. We were fortunate to get there Sunday 2/16/25 when I booked 2 months ago.
