The service staff is excellent here. Problem is that is the best thing about the joint.
They have a variety of burgers and chicken sandwiches in the standard variety you may find at other places. The standard burger is a single 1/3 lb patty with the options of adding the veggies, cheese, chilli, and another whole patty if you like. The food is cooked little beyond pink center and there is a lack of seasoning on the meat. All in all its a plain hamburger that is a half step above McDonalds in flavor, through it lacks the patented McD processed looked.
Chicken is available in the various familiar forms. Blackened, breaded, naked, and buffalo. My dish was a blackened chicken sandwhich which came with coleslaw on top. It had no heat or spice to the blackening which I suspect comes from not wanting to blowing the lid of the unsuspecting public who may order such a interesting sounding sandwich. The coleslaw was a bland standard mix.
Side items are onion rings, fries, and waffle fries. The fries are a double fried variety that are crispy and well prepared. I would say their fries are very good but again lack the exciting flavor you would get from a Five guys fry. I didn't get a chance to get a waffle fry or orion ring but I don't hold out hope for a surprise revelation in taste there.
So all in all this place is pretty standard burger fare. I would pick Back Yard Burgers over a McD or BK for burgers. I would choose a Chik-Fil-A before Back Yard for chicken dishes. Fries are just above average, I would rate them in line with Chili's french fries, assuming you have a good Chili's...
Read moreI went to Backyard Burger for the first time on March 17, 2024. I went to the Raleigh, NC location on Strickland. I read the reviews ahead of time and some of the reviews weren't very good so I was interested to see what I would find. I got a Black and Bleu burger and large fries to go via the drive thru so I can't comment about the atmosphere of the interior. But I think it was the BEST burger I've ever had. This burger comes with bacon and sometimes the bacon on burgers is fatty and not crisp but the bacon on this burger was excellent...very little fat and cooked to perfection. The hamburger patty was very delicious too and both the burger and fries were hot like they had just been cooked. I will definitely go back again. It had a generous portion of bleu cheese, crisp lettuce, a nice slice of ripe tomato, etc. The drive thru was about normal. I was behind three cars when I ordered and it took about 5 minutes for the first car to get their food but the second car got their food in 30 seconds or less and I got mine that quickly too. So all in all I have nothing but praise...
Read moreOverall Rating: 4.8/10 While the establishment is neat and serviceable, it lacks in delivering a high-quality burger experience that one might expect from a place boasting "best burgers."
Atmosphere: 4.8/10 The venue gives off a fast-food chain vibe akin to a Burger King but feels somewhat dated and in need of modernization. The outdoor seating is uninviting, which detracts from the overall appeal.
Service: 5.5/10 Service is straightforward with no particular issues; staff are friendly, and food delivery is prompt. The cleanliness is adequate with room for improvement, especially in maintaining spotless facilities.
Food:
Cheese Burger: 4.1/10 - Despite its claims, the burger is merely passable with fresh-looking veggies but hampered by a dry, seemingly old bun. Onion Rings: 3.3/10 - These are disappointingly thick-cut, resulting in a watery texture, and they lack a complementary sauce that could enhance their flavor. Value: 3.3/10 The pricing does not reflect the quality provided, feeling more aligned with higher-end dining costs but without the corresponding dining experience or...
