They literally hold segregated events where certain people of certain genders are not allowed. I called them out on social media and they stood by their decision and offered me a refund. Place is full of bigotry. Hope it goes under soon.
EDIT: They have replied to this post and again, openly admitted to being discriminatory. The event was not a "lesbian fight night" but in fact advertised as a event or concert just like every other event at this venue. It was not a private event like they claim. They charged admission, had performances and show times. For every intent and purpose was just another show at the venue like they host multiple times a week, with one small exception, they were openly denying entry to people based on their gender at this one. That they proudly posted on their website and multiple social media pages. You can't just call an event "private" after the fact to excuse being exclusive and discriminatory. They of course deleted all of this in an attempt to hide the evidence.
This was not a lesbian only dating event where it would make sense to not allow cis men, this was an event at a concert hall that hosts events all the time. What is between my legs is none of your business and has nothing to do with my ability to stand in a crowded room and watch the performance.
Lets be clear. Banning men, cis or not, from any concert or public performance or anything of the sort is clearly sexist by definition and acting like it's ok to discriminate against me and be sexist against me just because I am a cis male is plain bigotry. Period.
I am not willing to sit down with a bigot and listen to why you think it's ok to discriminate against me for something I have no control over. You know you wouldn't allow an event that denied entry to women. "private" or not. You know you wouldn't allow an event that denied entry to trans people. "private" or not. You either openly take it back and issue a real apology, or I have nothing to say other than the truth about Chapel of Bones and their open support for discrimination and sexism, on this very google review.
I have been to this venue countless times, as a performer and as a patron. For over 20 years. But I will not stand for discrimination in 2025, no matter who it's against. If this is their public stance than I openly hope for their demise and maybe someone who doesn't openly support discrimination and sexism will take over the venue. Venues who discriminate against anyone do not deserve to exist.
It’s the same principle: swapping the targeted group doesn’t change the fact that the policy is discriminatory. Whether the group is cis men, cis women, trans people, or anyone else, if the rule is “you can’t come because you’re in X gender category,” it’s gender-based discrimination. Currently that is what Chapel of Bones openly stands for. It is not talking trash, you admit yourself that your stance is exactly what I accuse and there is no dispute. You openly defend hosting discriminatory events that allow only some, but not all genders or gender identities.
PS, you might wanna check out the Wake county CHAPTER 34: NON-DISCRIMINATION act that you have admitted to be in violation of. "sexual orientation, gender identity or expression" are protected classes and you have openly admitted to denying entry for those...
Read moreStopped by C.O.B during Galaxy Con weekend, saw the % off for cosplayers so we decided to make some time for a cool new coffee joint. Ambiance was on point, facility looked quite clean from a glance and the employee on POS was very kind. Arrived during an early afternoon rush, a decent amount of patrons present.
I am aware my request is a-typical, however I did not expect it to completely tilt the head barista on bar. As a barista myself, my order is just an iced latte with the shots on the side. It is quite simple. I understand one wants to use the espresso to mix in thicker sauces, I accept my fate of needing to mix my latte(s) after receiving due to my request. My main point of interest in the quality of the espresso which makes or breaks the drink.
Once my order was received, there was much more than 2oz of liquid in my espresso cup. The shots themselves had unmixed white chocolate sauce on the bottom and potentially some milk? It was sweet and milky, I could not assess the espresso quality by itself.
There was syrup also in the cup with the milk/ice. Once combined the drink was overwhelmingly sweet. I’m sure the head barista was worried I wouldn’t like the espresso on its own and needed to drink it with sweetener. Sadly not the case.
The friends I went with all also had lukewarm feelings about the beverages. Was really hoping to like this place due to the on point...
Read moreSo, I visited the Chapel of Bones expecting a peaceful, spiritual experience. Instead, I found myself surrounded by a bone-afide nightmare straight out of a Halloween decoration store. Walls made of skulls? Check. Femurs casually stacked like firewood? Double-check. I started wondering if I had accidentally walked into a goth interior designer’s dream project.
The moment I stepped inside, I swear the skulls were judging me. One of them looked like it was whispering, “You’re next.” Comforting. My friend tried to crack a joke, but it backfired when his voice echoed in a way that made it sound like the bones were laughing back. Creepy? Yes. Hilarious? Also yes.
Overall, I’d rate this place a solid 10/10 for unique décor, 7/10 for existential dread, and 100/10 for making me rethink my calcium intake. Would definitely visit again—preferably while...
