Korner Pocket — Restaurant in Raleigh

This is a locals dive bar. The drinks were good and reasonably priced, they have pool tables that take quarters and dollar bills and they are taken care of. There is jukebox that is usually playing. They have a restaurant adjoining the bar, biggies steak house, we tried their food tonight and were mixed of opinion about the food. It was about 830 pm, the restaurant was dead and about 15 people in the bar. We ordered a mixed plate appetizer, a Reuben, an 8 oz steak, and 2 chili cheese dogs. The Reuben was well prepared and tasted very good! The 8 oz steak was ordered medium, it came out way over done and over seasoned, ordered sauteed onions and mushrooms and got slightly cooked onions that were still crunchy and a few scattered mushrooms. This was accompanied with a baked potato that was nothing special. The 2 chilli cheese dogs were cold on stale bread, with a sweet chili that was warmed enough to just begin melt the cheese. The appetizer plate had potato skins, mozzarella sticks, chicken fingers, and onion rings. They were all decent. The cook came out to drop off a cold red sauce that seemed like it was supposed to be marinara. The other sauces were honey mustard, sour cream, blue cheese?, and ranch. I have had lunch here before, with much better results, however I was far from pleased with the food that I was served here this night. Needless to say, it is an ok place to stop in and have a couple of drinks, shoot some pool, and maybe a quick snack. However if you are looking for less of a gamble on what you will be eating, I would plan on eating...

If you want a big juicy burger that haunts your dreams until you can visit again.... then this is a place! The cooks here have never disappointed. Their burgers are thick, handmade pieces of heaven. My fiance and I have been eating healthier and dieting but the Bacon Cheeseburger here is our exception. It is worth every delicious calorie. This place is our special getaway. Bad day? BACON CHEESEBURGER. Good day? IT CAN BE MADE BETTER WITH THEIR CHEESEBURGER. Trust me... This place is fantastic and you WILL be counting down the seconds until you come back. Pair that AMAZING burger with all the fixings with the CHILI CHEESE FRIES and I promise you will experience the closest thing to heaven on earth. The staff is ALWAYS FANTASTIC and the charm of this place is just the cherry on top. I cannot recommend this place enough. This place is forever my #1 burger that I've ever had. Heard good things about their wings, came on a Friday night around 12:30 to check it out. There was a literal grandma working the bar, I’m assuming one of the owners? Anyway, we sat there (2 of us) at the bar for close to 15 minutes. No hello, no smile, no acknowledgment whatsoever. The two guys beside us had empty beers the entire time and also look annoyed. We left and went somewhere else.

Decided to try again Wednesday 10/6. Came around midnight. Was told they were closing an hour early and it was last call for alcohol and no food. Her excuse was that she and the cook had be up at 7am and was closing early. I’m sorry, what? This is a business and clearly you don’t want to make money. Again, we took our business elsewhere and will not return. I will say- this bartender seemed very nice but this is now the second time in a week that I never received any service.
