I decided to try a new Chinese place for a special night. Overall I was disappointed in my pickup order, and was expecting much better food based on the favorable reviews and the prices. I paid over $30 for 2 entrees, one with “fried” rice, and an order of cream cheese wontons. The wontons were good, but the rest of the food not so much. The sesame chicken was barely ok but too much breading and it was sitting in over 1/2” of oil in the bottom of the container and most of the pieces were soggy. I poured the oil out before giving to the person it was ordered for. The “fried”rice was nothing more than yellow colored rice with a few peas and tiny carrot pieces and specks of onions. The schezwan beef was the worst. There was nothing schezwan about it, as far as flavor. The strongest flavor was of oil, and I don’t know what kind but it didn’t taste good at all. The beef must have been cheap and soaked in oil to make it tender because it had NO texture of beef, it was just slimy from oil. The vegetables in it were nothing special, didn’t seem fresh. The sauce was terrible. It wasn’t spicy at all and the taste was unrecognizable except for the oil again. I guarantee you the oil they use is very cheap, probably canola. They need to cut back on the oil and add some flavor and good spices. A lot of these reviews have got to be fake, because I can’t believe there would be many raving reviews for their food. I won’t be returning. Very...
Read moreWe've been trying to find our go to Chinese place ever since our favorite closed over two years ago when the city of Anoka bought everyone out in the building they were in. (Nothing in that corner yet, just a for sale sign.)I digress. Finally a place that makes chow mien with more than chicken dust and celery. (Yes I had literally chicken dust from another restaurant.) The General Tao's was spicy but not overpoweringly so and delicious. Pineapple Chicken was equally good. You didn't need a magnifying glass to find the meat in the fried rice either. Only thing I forgot to ask when ordering was weather or not they have brown rice, minor. If I did have one complaint it was the size of the egg rolls. They are about the size of a spring roll. I personally don't mind I usually end up splitting one with my daughter. It did however effect ordering ultimately. I ordered as though they'd be shared by a couple of us and when they came in so small my daughter and I could have each had one and my boys and hubby could have each eaten two. But all in all I think we have found our new Chinese restaurant. Maybe not going to be as often as when we had one close but nice to know they are there. Anoka to Ramsay during rush hour is a bear and with construction on Hwy 10 coming up soon...can we say back roads??? Like we're going to be the only...
Read moreI really want to not be rude but this was by far the worst Chinese food I have ever had and I need to be honest about the experience. I ordered the food tonight (2/12/21) through DoorDash and it took almost an hour longer than was estimated to arrive. We were fine with the wait since it is a Friday night although I do think they should refuse orders if they cannot accommodate it (Dasher said over 30 people were there waiting for their orders). When our food arrived it was hot but as soon as we pulled the lids off of our dishes (mushroom chicken and Hunan beef) we noticed a horrendous smell. It smelled exactly like extremely dirty dishwater. That's the only way to describe it. We both decided to taste the food because we thought maybe it was just the container but no luck. Both dishes had a spoiled taste to them. We were completely crushed because the food was inedible. A very disappointing experience considering how highly rated this place is. I hope this was just a fluke but, unfortunately, we will not take the risk to...
