Mary's Tamales and Mexican Food — Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga

Me and my entire extended family (about 60 people) have been ordering tamales here for 4 years because they are THAT GOOD. HOWEVER, I have to say I'm a LITTLE MOODY right now about something that happened with a 2 DOZEN (1 dozen beef & 1 dozen green chili-cheese) tamale order a couple days ago. Let me start by saying, the prices are ABOUT $12-$20 MORE PER DOZEN depending on what kind you order. I'M OKAY WITH THAT, BECAUSE THEY ARE THAT GOOD. I don't mind paying more for food that my family enjoys eating. I'm ordering your tamales and paying your prices because we enjoy what they taste like. But here's the problem: It's not fair to change up your recipe on me without telling me first 😕 because I'm paying a lot of money thinking that I'm paying for the same recipe that we've always been getting. I walked out of there paying over $70 for 2 dozen tamales and a dozen of them went to waste. Why? Well, when I called they said it's because they ran out of their normal cheese and they had to use a different cheese. Okay, that's fine. I UNDERSTAND, IT HAPPENS. But they had my cell phone number and all they had to do was call and tell me what's going on and give me the choice to either wait for them to get the right cheese or agree to use the new cheese or whatever. But they didn't, and the cheese tamales tasted very, very bad 😔. I don't remember what the man said the cheese was that he used, but I think it was old or something because it tasted so bad that we each took one or two bites and we couldn't even finish the rest of it. Let me tell you, we've had a lot of different types of tamales from a lot of different places in our life and yes, there's been times where we didn't like the cheese but there's never been a time that it was so bad that we couldn't finish a tamale. That's why I think maybe the cheese was old. When I called and talked to the man who answered the phone he told me that he had to use a different cheese but then he rushed me off the phone. I was hoping that he would offer to either refund me or at least make me another batch. These tamales were not for a party or anything. It was just for our family to eat for the next couple of days because we didn't get a chance to order any over Christmas so I could have waited for him to get the right cheese that he needed. I'm just so disappointed that's all because Mary's has ALWAYS had the bomb tamales. And I know this is just a one-time thing and maybe it's not a big deal to some people but it feels like a big deal to me only because I paid so much money for them. If it was like last year where I was only paying $22 or whatever then I would just let it go but damn the prices went up so much like, it just hurts...

This place is so damn good!!! 🙌🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 I think this might be one of the most underrated places to eat Mexican food in the Rancho Cucamoga / Ontario area. Their specialty and breadwinner might be their Tamales 🥳 but ALL of their food is good! I don't think I have ever ordered a dish here that has let my taste buds down 😋 the Tamales here are so good that come December they shut down everything on their menu except the Tamales. (And make sure you order in advance, starting in November, or get in line early to buy some of the day's left overs!!!) I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good, traditional Mexican plates 😎 if you're looking for Tamales you can always call in advance and ask which flavor they have...

I'm in love!!!! The weather was chilly yesterday so this was a must! Called ahead to make sure they had tamales and they held them for me until I got there. Got some of each - pork, chicken and cheese. Yummmmm. I hate to say it but I have tried many places and the tamales tend to be dry or just disappointing. I finally found my place! They're moist, not overly greasy and they're hefty. The cheese have some green sauce instead of rajas or jalapeños. Wish I had gotten some sauce on the side but next time. Also an honorable mention to the champurrado, perfect! Thank you
