Zait Bistro — Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga

I ate recently at Zait Bistro because of good reviews and a craving for Middle Eastern food. My experience here was a sore let down. Following hours of shopping and walking at the nearby Victoria Gardens, I search for some restaurants and Zait Bistro pops up on my Google search.

I ordered a lamb shawarma shrak sandwich and a side of fries (the fries were $5!!!) and the total was $17. I realized food wasn’t gonna be cheap, but for $17 I was expecting some quality food. Well, I received food but it was hardly of any quality.

The shawarma came out cold, and I’m 99% sure the shrak bread was stale, because biting through that bread was literally a full-on workout for my jaw. The bread was so tough. The food was not only cold and hard to eat, but also lacked any real flavor. Genuinely, it just had no flavor.

Then I open up my french fries only to be further disappointed by the most fat, uncrispy, mushy, unsalted fries. The fries were cut terribly, and were basically just chunks of potato. It was actually worse that cold mcdonald’s french fries.

I’ve been to good mediterranean/middle eastern restaurants before, and this 100% isn’t it. I don’t know if covid lowered quality or something, but the food was just genuinely bad. I’ll never come here again, and would rate it 0 stars if I could. This place was highly recommended by a close friend so I took my family for a late lunch. We placed our orders of 4 combo plates that costs $100+. The person who took our order was very helpful and friendly. We ended up waiting over half an hour for our food. A family came well after us and was given priority because they knew the manager or something and all the people working behind the counter got their orders out first and they were getting table side service from whom I assume is the manager as he was the only one not wearing a uniform. All the attention was just getting this family’s orders out and the rest of us other customers have to wait hungry for our food. I had to ask/remind the person who took our order that we’ve been waiting over half an hour now. I am not a new customer I was going there for years since the restaurant is opened but recently I started to get a very bad customer service and also the food taste very bad. I just ordered a big order paid over hundred dollars and once I opened my order the tahini sauce was filled by air and the taste was like fermented .
